About this property

This 300 year old Grade II listed Cotswold stone thatched cottage in Broad Campden is a former village smithy. Bursting with character and original features including a large inglenook fireplace, exposed beams and a stone staircase.

Inglenook Cottage is the epitome of a chocolate-box cottage and has featured on postcards, in books and in the press. The cottage is bursting with character and situated with many other thatched properties in the idyllic village of Broad Campden.

300 years old, this Grade II listed cottage used to be the village smithy, with a huge inglenook fireplace, complete with seat and bread oven where you can cosy up in front of a roaring open fire. There are countless exposed beams, a stone staircase and ancient wooden floorboards. The property is sympathetically restored with top quality modern appliances, a beautiful fitted wooden kitchen, an inviting bedroom with a king-size bed and a cottage-style bathroom with a claw foot bath. Outside, is a small, sheltered walled courtyard garden with a patio area and garden furniture to enjoy the Cotswold sunshine.

Picturesque Broad Campden has a village pub within walking distance, The Bakers Arms, featured in the Good Beer Guide and the Good Pub Guide and serves excellent food. A very short drive away is Chipping Campden, an historic market wool town, with an abundance of independent shops, restaurants, wine bars and teashops. A little further afield are the popular Cotswolds towns of Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold, Upper and Lower Slaughter, and Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon is just a 30 minute drive away.

A very quaint cottage ideally located for touring around the Cotswolds. The cottage was as advertised. The inglenook fireplace gave it even more character and very cosy when we lit it. Would stay here again.
