Nestled in the heart of the historic 16,000 acre Bathurst Estate near Cirencester, Apsley Cottage is a picture perfect home overlooking the village green and within walking distance of a fabulous local pub.
Apsley Cottage, originally built in 1908 received a complete renovation in 2013 from the current Countess Bathurst.
While the building itself has been kept to the original style of the ‘Arts & Crafts’ period, the cottage interior has had an injection of modern living with thought given to offering ultimate comfort for guests. Retaining many of the original features such as the wonderful oak beams upstairs, Apsley Cottage has all the mod cons a discerning visitor may possibly ask for.
The open plan design on the ground floor gives it a spacious yet intimate feel, with underfloor heating and a fantastic kitchen that even has a built in dog bed! The bedrooms upstairs are beautifully cosy and comfortable – and the bathroom has a luxurious roll top bath in which to soak away any stresses of the day.
Outside there is an extensive terrace, where guests can relax over a cup of coffee, sleep in the sun or barbecue on the inbuilt locally forged grill. The garden is spacious with plenty of lawn on which to run around, and as a bonus the cottage overlooks and leads directly onto the huge village green, where a football can been kicked about with the friendly neighbours.
As a gift from The Countess Bathurst, all visitors during the summer months will be able to enjoy watching polo with a complimentary membership to Cirencester Park Polo Club, where top players (and the odd Prince or two!) take part in the most enthralling of equestrian sports. As members you will be able to park in the Members Enclosure and enjoy the Members Restaurant and Bar.
*Please note that this only applies during the polo season, which runs from approx. mid-May to mid-September.
