The Cotswold Water Park is a fantastic year-round holiday destination. As the UK’s largest wetlands reserve it has over 150 lakes covering forty square miles. The holiday homes around Isis Lakes have a New England vibe, with pastel-coloured exteriors and brilliantly white woodwork chiming beautifully with mature landscaped gardens and the reed-fringed lakes.

Guests at the lodge can fish seasonally for trout and carp on Isis and nearby Windrush Lake, while those with a non-motorised boat, windsurfer, paddleboard or kayak can set sail on Windrush. Waterskiing, wakeboarding and inflatable riding is within walking distance at the excellent Lakeside Waterski and Wake, where they can also provide tuition for those who want it. These watersports are available between March and the end of October, after which the lakes become a haven for a wealth of waterfowl to spend winter in their protected environment. The Lakeside Restaurant and Bar is also within walking distance, adding to the ease with which visitors can relax and unwind with a great meal.

The pretty village of South Cerney is a gentle stroll or bike ride away, with pubs, takeaways, a post office and a village shop. More amenities are available in Cirencester, a 15-minute drive from the lodge. Here, there is an array of places to eat, drink and shop as well as places like the Corinium Museum, which showcases the town’s Roman heritage, the New Brewery Arts Centre and the magnificent Bathurst Estate which is home to Cirencester Polo Club.

Further afield, attractions include Chedworth Roman Villa, the Cotswold Wildlife Park, Sudeley Castle and WWT Slimbridge Wetlands Centre. The Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is practically on the doorstep with its numerous charming and picturesque villages, while Blenheim Palace, Cheltenham Racecourse and Highgrove Gardens are close enough for a fun day out.
