About this property

No more than a hop from the heart of Stow on the Wold, The Hive is as sweet and gorgeous as it sounds! Ideal for couples (no children under 12). A period house with a boutique feel that has undergone the most comprehensive overhaul imaginable, you are surrounded by quality and luxury. Inside, there is a smart open plan living area, more than ample space for up to 4 people, including an uber-smart kitchen that will allow you to enjoy cooking up a storm! The views towards the little green and Sheep Street beyond are lovely and for such a central property you are surprised at how peaceful it is. There are two bedrooms a sublime master suite and a secluded twin/double upstairs too. Light and bright it is hard to believe this venerable old building is as old as it is, the clean and simple lines are relaxing and the quality of the fixtures and furnishings is a joy to behold. The entire experience here is outstanding, we love it. Whether entertaining at home or taking advantage of the superb choices in Stow, this is an exceptional base to explore the cotswolds.

The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, this is a traditional fair for people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted; Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum.

The apartment is beautiful, tastefully decorated, with good quality furnishings and very clean. On our first visit (a year ago), the washing machine was out of order, this has now been replaced. Also we suggested an airer would be a useful item to have available and one has been provided. The Hive restaurant serves delicious food and Sally and Jayne are friendly and great hosts. Stow on the Wold is in an ideal spot to visit other parts of the Cotswolds. We really enjoyed our trip to Stratford -upon- Avon. The Mad Museum (Mechanical art and design), was great. In Banbury we visited the town museum and loved taking some fantastic photos in the gallery "Surprise your Eyes" (Open until the 6th October), Thank you for a lovely stay.
