Guests say

Woolpack Cottage is consistently praised for its cleanliness, comfortable furnishings, and convenient location within walking distance to Stow. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, secure garden, and the thoughtful touches like Christmas decorations. While some found the mattress firm and the Smart TV had issues, the overall experience is highly regarded, with many looking to return.

Guests unanimously commend the cottage for its first-class cleanliness, with multiple reviews highlighting the spotless condition upon arrival.

The cottage's location is greatly appreciated for its proximity to Stow's centre, with an easy walk to local amenities, making it an ideal base for exploring the Cotswolds.

The majority of guests find the cottage comfortable, mentioning cosy furnishings and a secure garden for pets. However, a few guests noted the mattress was a bit firm for their preference.

The property is well-equipped for stays, though there were minor issues with the Smart TV and a suggestion for an electric fan. The lack of a washing machine for longer stays and limited TV channels were noted.

Guests have expressed gratitude for the thoughtful gestures such as Christmas decorations and presents. While these are greatly appreciated, it's important to note that such personal touches are subject to the owners' discretion and may not be a consistent feature.

Olde worlde England is best exemplified by Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest town in the Cotswolds and a former Iron Age fort. Since the 12th century, this historic market town has hosted numerous fairs. Currently, it hosts a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs, and a monthly Farmers' market. The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, this is a traditional fair for people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted; Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. The large market square is bordered by a beautiful collection of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique stores, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants, and its very own cricket museum. It has an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other. From Stow's centre, you may take a variety of strolls and bike rides through the picturesque Cotswolds countryside. The Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire Way, and Monarch's Way all pass by the town. One of the most well-known Cotswold villages is Bourton-on-the-Water, also referred to as the "Venice of the Cotswolds" due to the River Windrush's path through the town. The village is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Moreton-in-Marsh, a Saxon market town, and Broadway, a classic English village, are both nearby and make for a fun day trip. Architecturally speaking, the most complete Regency town in England is Cheltenham (20 miles away). It is a resort town with an amazing selection of stores, theatres, restaurants, and bars. In March, it hosts a horse-racing festival that includes the Gold Cup steeplechase. It hosts festivals for literature, jazz, classical music, science, and food and drink at various times of the year. The oldest university city in England, Oxford, often known as "The City of Dreaming Spires," is home to 38 colleges, half of which date back to before 1600, the oldest university classroom, the Bodleian Library, the Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and the Botanic Gardens. Stow-on-the-Wold is the perfect starting point because it is close to Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester, and the maritime city of Gloucester.

Unfortunately it was too late for the owner to relet so we could not get a refund or change of date. I am sorry we could not foresee our family crisis so we couldn’t give more notice! No consideration was given, we just cancelled too late and after all it is always just about money. They didn’t have to clean the property, didn’t have to change bedding or towels but not even a small refund was forthcoming. What a thoughtful caring company. Needless to say I will not be using this company again.

Everything you could need in the house. Very comfortable beds. Close walking distance into Stow that has everything you’d want from a small country town, although book if you want to eat in any of the restaurants. What the house in character it more than makes up for in location.
