Nearby Belper is a town with a long and famous history dating back to the 13th century, when it was then called Beaurepaire (beautiful retreat), a name that still holds true today. Now you'll find it to be a spirited and bustling town, with attractions including the North Mill, Long Row and the River Gardens. Just 14 miles away, the popular Peak District town of Matlock, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, are set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent. The Matlocks offer a range of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as a whole host of other exciting attractions.

Very friendly people in the small village of Duffield ! Close to a Railway station we had a full day in Matlock ! Perfect for our short break with our Welsh springer. We will be visiting again . Marion Pat and Ralph the dog .

It was fresh and very clean, one of the cleanest places i have stayed, everything you need is there. I was travelling solo (with my cocker ) and we travelled everywhere by train. There is also a regular bus service, and some lovely walks from the cottage. A short distance to Matlock, Cromford, Belper Ambergate and many more. The Snug is in an ideal place stay and has many options for exploring. The little extras were really appreciated. Communication with Kirsty was excellent.
