Guests say

The Tack Room Cottage in the Peak District & Derbyshire Dales is highly praised for its comfortable accommodation, quality fixtures, and beautiful location. Guests appreciate the warm welcome, including thoughtful touches like cake and wine. The property is well-served by local amenities and is an ideal base for exploring the area, with some concerns about natural light in the living area and specific maintenance details.

Guests generally found the cottage to be very clean, with only a few isolated comments about cobwebs and a need for extra attention in the main bathroom. The overwhelmingly positive remarks suggest a high standard of cleanliness.

The location is consistently described as exceptional, with easy access to local walks, dog-friendly pubs, and a village within walking distance. The rural setting and proximity to attractions in the Peak District make it an ideal spot for guests.

The cottage is frequently described as comfortable and cosy, with high-quality beds and linens. The spacious rooms and warm atmosphere contribute to a very comfortable stay, although a few guests mentioned a lack of natural light in the living area.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and high-quality fittings. Some guests suggested improvements such as better lighting in the living area and a larger fridge. The lack of a window in the living room was noted by several reviewers.

While many guests mentioned and appreciated the welcome gifts such as cake and wine, these are personal touches that may vary and are not guaranteed amenities of the property. As such, a score cannot be provided based on the available information.

About this property

This lovely three-bedroom stone-built stable conversion was originally part of the stables and Tack Room. It overlooks the rear garden with views across the surrounding open countryside. Entry is under an arched porch way into the very comfortable sitting room, beautifully furnished to the highest of standards. The country-style kitchen has plenty of character and has been beautifully equipped to meet all your culinary needs, with the dining area making it a very sociable space. Each bedroom is tastefully appointed, one with an en-suite and one with an additional day bed, allowing flexibility for sleeping arrangements. To the rear, five steps lead up to a private lawned garden which has fine views over fields; a delightful spot in which to relax and soak up the sun. Note: This property adjoins Ref. 927574, together they sleep 14.

The small, rural village of Ashover is peacefully situated in the Amber Valley, just five miles from Matlock. The village affords a 9-hole golf course and several good pubs, including the Crispin Inn, renowned as one of the oldest pubs in the Peak District. The county town of Matlock, famous for its warm springs, offers a host of fine eating places, good shops and an interesting museum.
