Tansley is a small, rural community in the Derbyshire Dales, approximately 2 miles from Matlock, with two welcoming pubs and several brightly coloured garden centres. Matlock, the county town, is only 2 miles distant and was famous from 1698 to 1950 for its warm springs, which supplied water therapy to visitors from far and wide. Today, the town offers a variety of superb restaurants, decent shops, a fascinating museum, and Leys Hall Park, located in the centre of the town, offers a beautiful environment for a variety of leisure activities such as bowling, mini golf, tennis, boating, and a children's play area. Gulliver's Kingdom, with its owl maze, water gardens, nature trails, thrilling rides, and cable car rides over the picturesque Matlock Gorge, offers a fantastic day. The bed is so comfortable! The cottage is airy and spacious with lovely decor and furnishings. Plenty of storage space. The underfloor central heating makes it really cosy (both our stays have been in October months.) We were contacted to tell us about the broken dishwasher. Thank you. However, as the dishwasher was broken, I would have expected some washing up liquid to have been provided but we had to go out and buy some. We did find several cobwebs - one or two in the kitchen cupboards! We stay in lots of self catering cottages and most owners provide a welcome with teabags and a pint of milk - or even a cake or packet of biscuits. Perhaps something for the owner to consider. We hope to return sometime as the location is really good. Can recommend Bakewell and Haddon Hall.

As has been said, gap in shower, not comfortable to use, and toilet spits out when flushed. We phoned the owner, leaving a voice message but to no avail to re adjust the central heating as it was too hot during the evenings. The cottage needs more cleaning especially inside kitchen cupboards and bathrooms.
