5 Wye Rapid Cottages is a well-loved, cosy retreat in a stunning location, ideal for walking and enjoying the tranquillity of Herefordshire. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable furnishings, and the homely attention to detail. While some mention narrow access roads, the overall experience is one of a peaceful and enjoyable stay, with many looking forward to returning.
The majority of guests found the cottage to be clean and well-presented. However, a few guests noted issues with bathroom cleanliness, such as mould, which slightly lowers the score.
The location is highly praised for its stunning views and proximity to walking paths and local pubs. The absence of mobile reception is compensated by good WiFi. The ferry service and narrow access road are noted, but do not significantly detract from the overall positive reception of the location.
Guests consistently describe the cottage as cosy, warm, and comfortable, with special mentions of comfortable beds and a homely feel. The presence of creaky stairs and a challenging access road are minor concerns.
Facilities are generally well-received, with the cottage being equipped for a comfortable stay. Some guests suggested improvements such as the addition of a DVD player and better water pressure in the bathroom. The road closure and ferry service not running are external factors that affected the convenience for some guests.

A charming mid-terrace cottage in the heart of the village of Symonds Yat, overlooking the River Wye and Symonds Yat Rock in the Wye Valley. The delightful, light and airy cottage offers stunning views from the front of the property and is ideal for a get together with family and friends in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The quality of the cottage is evident as you enter with sumptuous seating in the sitting room and a coal-effect electric fire, which leads through to a well-equipped kitchen with dining area, ideal for relaxing over a coffee and planning the day’s activities. Upstairs there are two comfortable bedrooms and a family bathroom. Doors from the kitchen lead to the rear private courtyard garden which comes complete with furniture and BBQ, perfect for enjoying the delights of alfresco dining on a summer's evening. The shared, landscaped gardens offer different seating areas which are ideal for enjoying the quiet tranquillity of the area with a book or a picnic. Why not take a stroll to the river ferry, cross the River Wye and enjoy a refreshing drink in the pub on the opposite bank? Many fabulous walks and cycle trails can be enjoyed from the doorstep of the cottage, or try your hand at one of the many outdoor activities on offer in the Forest of Dean and on the River Wye. Visit the riverside towns of Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth, both offering unique shops, tea rooms and traditional pubs in idyllic settings. A wonderful holiday cottage to be enjoyed at any time of year.
The pretty village of Symonds Yat straddles the beautiful River Wye with its natural scenery and magnificent limestone 'rock', popular with climbers and is internationally renowned for its viewpoint. Symonds Yat West is situated overlooking the beautiful Wye Valley, and is close to the magnificent Royal Forest of Dean, England's largest oak forest. This is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering numerous trails that can be explored on foot, bicycle or horseback.
