Cockermouth, a little country market town in the calm north-western region of the Lake District. Wordsworth's Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a major visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust, and is the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian. Cockermouth has a nice selection of stores, pubs, and restaurants, but the area's major draw is the stunning landscape and superb walking opportunities.
