Whiteside Lodge in Cockermouth offers a peaceful stay with beautiful surroundings and friendly owners. Guests appreciate the comfortable accommodation and the ideal location for walking and exploring the Lake District. While some minor issues were noted, the overall experience is positive with many looking forward to returning.
One review mentioned floors not being cleaned, which suggests room for improvement in cleanliness. However, there are no other comments to corroborate this, so the score reflects a single report.
The location is consistently praised for its peacefulness, ideal for rest and walks, with stunning views and proximity to the northern Lakes, contributing to a high score.
Guests find the caravan comfortable and well-equipped, with exceptionally comfortable furniture, although the absence of a washing machine and outdoor furniture was noted.
The property offers basic facilities with some limitations in TV reception and internet connectivity. The lack of games, jigsaws, or books for rainy days and a washing machine are noted.
While guests mentioned receiving potatoes, eggs, and gooseberries, as these gifts are not consistently reported or guaranteed, it is not possible to score thoughtfulness based on the available reviews.
Cockermouth 5 miles and Keswick 7 miles. Whiteside is a well-positioned, single-storey lodge located in the village of High Lorton, close to Cockermouth and Keswick, overlooking the undulating hills of the Lake District National Park. Whiteside is an excellent base for a group of four guests and their furry companions, situated in a prime area to enjoy the Lakes; the lodge also benefits from off-road parking, a private veranda, and an open-plan living area.
Once you've parked, unload your bags before heading up to the lodge. Be greeted into the open-plan living area, which has a well-equipped kitchen, a dining room table that seats four people, and lots of plush seating.
Take advantage of your magnificent surroundings by stepping outside, setting up the picnic bench, and enjoying the scenery with a glass of wine in hand. Choose between a double bedroom with an en suite shower room and a twin bedroom with a second shower room; both bedrooms are tastefully decorated, helping you feel at home.
Starting in Whiteside, be ready for an adventure-filled itinerary. Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 1133602, together sleeping up to 8 guests.
Despite being only 13 miles from Keswick, the sleepy agricultural market town of Cockermouth is located in the peaceful northwest region of the Lake District. The National Trust presently operates Wordsworth's Georgian family home on the main street, which is a well-liked tourist destination. The town is well-known for being the birthplace of both Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and William Wordsworth. Cockermouth has a nice selection of stores, bars, and restaurants, but (obviously) the area's major draw is the stunning scenery and fantastic hiking in the northern lakes, including Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water, and Derwent Water.

We loved our stay. Thank You!
Craig
We had the site to ourselves as the other van wasnât occupied whilst we were there, but as the vans looked away from each other even if there had been someone else staying it would still have felt private. The views from the property were amazing, and the furniture was exceptionally comfortable, just what was need after a day on the fells. Iâd highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a quiet stay in the northern Lakes.
