The house is about 1 mile from Derwentwater, where you’ll find mirror glass water on a still day against the stunning backdrop of the fells. There are pretty walks around the lake, including a quick 0.5-mile route up to Friar’s Crag viewpoint starting at Moot Hall. Catch a boat to Hawes then follow the trail up Cat Bells for a more challenging hike (well worth it for the views). Hire a motorboat or a rowing boat to tour the lake or have fun exploring on a paddleboard or kayak. You can also go rock climbing or caving nearby, visit the distillery on the north shore at Bassenthwaite (7 miles away) or the craft brewery in town for a drink.
