Wren's Nest is a cosy and intimate cottage in Cumbria, highly praised for its stunning views and excellent location for walking and exploring the Lake District. Guests appreciate the warm welcome from the owners and the property's cleanliness. While some find the cottage small and note minor issues with facilities, the charm of the setting and the convenience of nearby Keswick make it a beloved choice for a peaceful getaway.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests report that the cottage is very clean and well-presented, with only a few isolated comments about minor issues that do not detract significantly from the overall positive feedback on cleanliness.

The location is consistently lauded for its beautiful views, proximity to walking routes, and easy access to Keswick. The peaceful setting and wildlife contribute to a highly rated location.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, cosy, and warm, with a few noting the bed's comfort and the adequacy of heating. However, some mention the cottage's small size and sloping ceilings as minor discomforts.

While the cottage is appreciated for its essential facilities, some guests mention a lack of cooking utensils and issues with the microwave and shower, suggesting room for improvement in maintenance and equipment.

About this property

This charming semi-detached cottage is situated in splendid surroundings, on the edge of the village of Thornthwaite, four miles from the town of Keswick in the beautiful Lake District National Park. A former stable, this small cottage boasts magnificent mountain views across to Skiddaw and the Helvellyn range, and is only a short walk from Bassenthwaite Lake. Well maintained, it has an open plan living area consisting of a kitchen, dining area and sitting area with a glazed door that opens onto an attractive patio, which is the perfect place to admire the views and wildlife, whilst enjoying a relaxing drink. A delightful pine staircase leads to a gallery bedroom with a pitched ceiling and pine beams, and completing the accommodation is a ground floor shower room. The vibrant market town of Keswick is just a ten minute drive away and has many specialist shops and restaurants, along with the Theatre by the Lake, which has a wide and varied programme of events. Close by is Whinlatter forest with its osprey observation unit, and there are many walks, bike trails and watersports available in the area. This cosy cottage is an ideal base for romantic getaways.

I was a little disappointed that no milk was provided nor tea bags or coffee as I stay in Airbnbs on a regular basis and I noticed this property is featured on that site as well.
