Greengarth is a well-loved cottage in Keswick, praised for its spaciousness, modern amenities, and stunning views. Guests appreciate the property's proximity to town and the peacefulness of its location. The open-plan layout and bi-fold doors opening onto a garden are particular highlights, offering a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is highly regarded, with many guests planning return visits.
The property generally receives high marks for cleanliness, with guests finding it well-maintained. However, a few guests noted areas that could benefit from deeper cleaning or attention, such as skirting boards and silicone around the bath.
The location is highly praised for being quiet yet conveniently close to Keswick town centre, with easy access to local attractions and walks. The views from the property are also frequently commended.
Comfort is a strong point for Greengarth, with guests finding the beds comfortable and the living spaces warm and inviting. Some guests suggested improvements to pillows and bedroom furniture for added comfort.
Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and garden. However, there are recurring comments about the washer/dryer issues and a desire for more cleaning supplies and basic provisions. Some guests also mentioned the need for better lighting and functional bedroom furniture.
While some guests missed having welcome gifts such as a starter pack for the log burner or basic kitchen supplies, these are not consistently mentioned across the reviews. As such, it is not possible to accurately score thoughtfulness based on the available information.
A flat easy walk from the town centre and the market square, Greengarth is located in the popular Crosthwaite area of Keswick and is a modern semi which has been extended to give a light and airy open plan living space.
You enter into ground floor open plan living, with spectacular bi-fold doors, opening directly onto the patio and garden and offer wonderful views to Skiddaw, one of the Lake District's highest mountains. The lounge area, with welcoming woodburning stove, has comfortable leather sofa and armchairs and large screen Smart TV. The quality kitchen is well-equipped with electric hob and oven, fridge, freezer and dishwasher and breakfast bar. The large family dining table sits in front of the bi-fold doors making it the ideal spot to socialise with friends and family. There is a small utility area with washer/dryer and there is also a convenient downstairs WC. Upstairs there are three bright, modern and airy bedrooms, the first offers a king-size bed, views to Skiddaw and TV. The second has a zip link super king size bed (this can be made up as a twin room on request); this room has a TV and views above the rooftops to Cat Bells, Robinson and the mountains of the Newlands Valley. The third is a pretty single bedroom. There is also a contemporary bathroom which includes a bath which is set along a fabulous feature slate wall, with monsoon shower over, a basin, WC and LED sensor mirror. To the front of Greengarth there is private parking for two cars and to the rear there is a large patio area with table and chairs making it the ideal spot to relax with a glass of wine, morning coffee or dinner on a summers evening and beyond a pretty, lawned, cottage garden with herbaceous borders and mature shrubs.

We loved our week, the great weather also helped. The property is spacious with a lovely garden and great views. We only ate out once as the dinning area is a great place to eat and chill. We used to live in Cockermouth for 34 years and Keswick is one of our favourite places. It was nice to come back and visit after moving away from the area and to see old friends - the house and stay made for a perfect week. We will look to come back again next Spring.

Clean and comfortable. Felt really spacious and had everything we would need

Pros: - Modern kitchen and dining area, with open plan - Great bifold windows - Good toilets and shower - Lovely garden, really well maintained Cons: - For a place in the Lakes, a bigger airing rack is needed to dry clothes - Install an outside washing line to air clothes - Have an ironing board. There's no point just having an iron - Lake lovers should do more to keep a few bin liners, hand wash in each toilet, and more tea towels. There was one tea towel to dry and none of the other above products. A customer should not have to spend a lot of money for a week's stay and then buy bin liners. A few could at least be added for the beginning of the week - Upstairs curtain poles are loose, to the point of breaking off. They need replastetring and securing. - Bit more colour/pictures to the upstairs bedrooms
