Guests say

Nook Cottage in Cumbria is highly praised for its cosy atmosphere, stunning location, and thoughtful touches. Guests appreciate the welcome packs, the proximity to walking paths, and the pet-friendly environment. The cottage's charm, coupled with the hospitality of the hosts, contributes to a delightful stay, despite some minor concerns about maintenance and cleanliness.

Most guests found Nook Cottage to be clean and tidy, with special mention of the bathroom's cleanliness. However, a few guests noted areas that could be improved, such as kitchenware cleanliness and the state of the carpets, suggesting a generally good but occasionally inconsistent standard.

The location is consistently lauded for its breathtaking scenery, peacefulness, and accessibility to walks and local amenities. Its proximity to Keswick and local pubs adds to the appeal, making it an ideal base for exploring the Lake District.

Guests describe the cottage as warm, cosy, and comfortable, with an open fire adding to the ambience. Some guests mentioned the cottage being small for six people and issues with low beams and door frames, but overall, the comfort level is highly regarded.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and secure garden. However, some guests noted that certain aspects, such as the bathroom facilities and kitchen appliances, could benefit from updating and better maintenance.

The hosts' thoughtfulness is evident in the welcome packs for both humans and pets, as well as the provision of essentials. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it should be noted that such extras, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

Rosthwaite is our favourite village in Borrowdale and therefore, the Lake District. Nook Cottage was the most comfortable accommodation we've stayed in there. Will definitely return.

Absolutely wonderful cottage - in a lovely part of the Lake District. It felt like home from home. It really is a gorgeous cottage - stunning scenery all around and beautiful walks from the door, couple of pubs in walking distance (about 2 miles or so ) nice to call in for a pint after a walk in the mountains then walk back to cottage or get the bus back (honister rambler passes through here too regularly). Booths just up the road to get supplies etc - lovely drive to Keswick from Borrowdale too. Nook Cottage was really clean and spacious - even though there was only two of us and the dog we booked this 3 bed cottage as it was right in the heart of Borrowdale, nice little farm cafe about 1 minute walk. Excellent and well equipped cottage, had everything we needed. Very comfy bed and we slept like logs. Nice welcome pack for us and also one for the dog too. Very thoughtful ! Faye - one of the owners was lovely and on hand for anything (we didnt meet her other half as he was busy lambing ). Lots of sheep and lambs about when we went which was so nice. Enclosed garden with picnic table and also bird feeders which was great to watch the different birds on it at all times of the day and early evening. We had lovely evening walks round Borrowdale. What a gem of a place ! Loved every minute and were sad to leave ! We will be back.
