About this property

Ale Cottage is a terrific two bedroom characterful beamed cottage sleeping 4 people, in the village of Ireby, 12 miles from Keswick and ideal location if you want to be away from it all, but near enough to explore the northern lakes. Offering spacious accommodation set over two floors, with one double bedroom on the ground floor with en-suite shower room, basin and WC. Up to the first floor there is one twin bedroom that shares a family bathroom with shower over bath, basin and WC and a lovely lounge with a fabulous solid fuel stove, in which you can unwind after a day out exploring the Lakes. The kitchen/diner is a sociable space where you can gather whilst preparing a home cooked meal and talk about the day's activities.  Leading down from the lounge you are out onto the garden where your dogs can scamper about. Outside is a garage with storage.  Ireby is a small village and ideally placed for the Northern Lakes and further afield, there is a small village pub next door where they serve home cooked meals in the evening, where you can sit in front of the fire and unwind.

Situated just to the north of Skiddaw, Ireby is an excellent centre for touring and walking throughout the northern Lakes yet is relatively unspoilt and provides a haven from the hustle and bustle of the busier parts of the Lake District. Ambleside and Windermere are however within easy reach. There are numerous walking opportunities from the door over the Caldbeck Fells and Skiddaw which leads you into Keswick (12 miles by road) where many amenities including Derwent Water, restaurants, pubs and shops await you.

This cottage had everything we wanted having a King Size Bed in the downstairs bedroom with an on-suite shower room. Upstairs was a Twin Bedroom and a bathroom next door. The kitchen had everything we wanted to cook meals. The Lounge has Sky Television together with a Wood Burning Stove and it was lovely to relax after wonderful days out with our dogs. Visiting the Lake District in Keswick and some lovely places to walk our dogs in St Bees and secluded beaches and walking paths in Mawbray and Allonby.
