The local Cartmel Priory and medieval village are worth a visit as is Grange over Sands an Edwardian seaside town with two miles of promenade and a wide variety of shops. Other activities to enjoy locally are The Lakeside & Haverthwaite Stream Railway for preserved steam railway trips to Lakeside on Windermere, Levens Hall and gardens, Beatrix Potter and Lakeland Motor Museum.
