About this property

Nestled in a quiet location, with Ambleside centre just a five-minute stroll away at the bottom of the hill, Jenkins is a very well-appointed and spacious base for a holiday at any time of year. With enough room for six people, this detached cottage welcomes families, friends and couples looking to be situated right at the heart of the Lake District, with plenty of opportunity from the doorstep. The entrance can be found up a couple of steps into a porch area with space to leave coats and boots. Discover the light and airy lounge/diner, the ideal spot to unwind after a day exploring Ambleside, with two large sofas, a dining table, a wall-mounted electric fire and a Smart TV so you can catch up on all your favourite shows. Prepare a sumptuous feast in the contemporary kitchen, complete with granite worktops and whit units for a sleek finish, along with a selection of integrated appliances, crockery and cooking utensils for your culinary needs. Upstairs there is the spacious master suite with king-size bed and the lavish en-suite bathroom where you can enjoy a relax and recover the freestanding bath tub, while downstairs there are two bedrooms, one with king-size bed and en-suite shower room and a twin with separate family bathroom, finished with chic grey tiling throughout. Accessed via the patio doors in the sitting room, you can spend those sunny afternoons lounging on the patio with a refreshing drink in hand or gather the whole party and dine alfresco style at the outdoor table and chairs. Ambleside offers something for everyone with superb high fell walking at Wansfell and Fairfield Horseshoe to name a few, as well as plenty of retail therapy and lots to keep the little one’s entertainment with a good pitch and put course, tennis courts, lots of water sports and a 4-screen cinema. There’s also plenty of low-level walking and a fabulous choice of restaurants and pubs if you fancy a night off cooking. Why not hop on the Windermere Steamer and cruise down to Lakeside, visiting the Aquarium of the Lakes and take a tour of the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway? Whatever you choose to do, Jenkins will be awaiting your return.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
