This traditional Lakeland stone cottage is furnished in a contemporary style and is ideally situated in the popular village of Staveley. There are many walks accessible from the door and both Windermere and Kendal are nearby where a wealth of shops, bars, Lake District pubs and restaurants await you.

Accommodation

Nestled between the Rivers Kent and Gowan, the traditional Lakeland village of Staveley lies at the mouth of the magnificent Kentmere Valley. Some of the area’s most picturesque mountain and valley walks are accessible from the village. Cyclists will find plenty of opportunity both on and off road. A network of bridleways and quite lanes provides a wide variety of routes making Staveley a hub for enthusiasts. Cycle hire is available from Wheelbase in the village centre. For those looking for a more relaxing break, explore all manner of artisan craft, food and locally brewed beer in Staveley Mill Yard. Take a walk along the Dales Way through quiet lanes and farmland to the popular villages of Windermere or Bowness, rewarding you with panoramic views along the way. Staveley is an ideal base for those without a car. The market town of Kendal and the popular holiday village of Windermere can both be reached quickly by train or bus from the village centre. Whilst retaining its working village roots away from the busiest tourist hotspots, there is plenty going on including live music at the Brewery along with a good variety of places to eat out.
Smithy Cottage is on the first floor accessed by an external stone staircase and sits in the heart of the village of Staveley. Traditional character and charm blend effortlessly with the twenty first century. The beamed lounge is wonderfully cosy, perfect for spending quality time with loved ones or friends. Outside, a seating area to the front of the cottage and also a shared garden with views down the river Gowan provide plenty of opportunity for alfresco entertainment.
