Guests say

Woodview is a well-received holiday cottage in Pooley Bridge, praised for its cleanliness, comfortable furnishings, and excellent location. Guests appreciate the modern facilities, cosy wood burner, and thoughtful touches like a welcome bottle of Prosecco. It serves as a perfect base for exploring the Lake District, with easy access to local amenities and stunning walks.

Guests consistently note the spotless condition of the property, with several reviews highlighting its cleanliness. There are minor mentions of a broken toilet seat and shower grouting, but these do not detract significantly from the overall high standards maintained.

The location is highly praised for being central, quiet, and convenient, with easy access to local pubs, shops, and scenic walks. Its proximity to Ullswater and the availability of off-road parking add to its appeal.

Comfort is a strong point for Woodview, with guests finding the beds comfortable and the living areas cosy, especially with the log burner. The underfloor heating is also appreciated, although there is a single mention of early checkout time.

The cottage is well-equipped with quality appliances and furnishings. Some guests mention a lack of saucepans and a potato masher, and a desire for more instructions on heating and recycling. However, these are minor issues within an otherwise positive reception.

Thoughtfulness is evident through mentions of welcome gifts such as Prosecco and chocolates. While these gifts are warmly received, it is important to note that such amenities are subject to change and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

Pooley Bridge is a charming town on the northwestern shore of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District National Park. The name Pooley was given to the town after the fast-flowing River Eamont created a vast pool, and the term Bridge was added later when a 250-year-old bridge was built over the river. Pooley Bridge is home to a number of ancient inns and appealing tea houses, as well as the Ullswater Steamers, which depart from the village.

The cottage was very clean and the scones and prosecco that welcomed us was very much appreciated> We visited old haunts and caught up with old friends, hopefully we will be returning next year

Beds and seating very comfortable, kitchen and bathroom clean and well equipped. Excellent lake / countryside walking opportunities straight from the door and easy access to bus stops plus the shores of Ullswater and the steamers. Local shops supply a good choice of produce if you wish to cook at the property or you can order groceries online to be delivered from a major supermarket for convenience. There are also plenty of options for eating out locally, all within easy walking distance. The property has everything you need for a Lake District holiday - even the clothes airer was decent quality and sturdy enough to dry larger items without collapsing or blowing over. The plug sockets are usefully positioned so you can charge items easily or use a hairdryer close to a mirror - not all properties we have stayed in have thought about such things. We also appreciated the Lake District themed wall art / biscuits / Herdwick sheep etc - the map wallpaper is a great feature. Overall a very comfortable and convenient property - would recommend.
