Guests say

Raisthwaite Farm is a well-loved, traditional farmhouse offering a peaceful retreat with stunning views and ample space for families and pets. Guests appreciate the property's homely feel, beautiful garden, and the thoughtful festive decorations provided during holiday seasons. The surrounding area is perfect for walking and enjoying nature, with the added charm of local wildlife.

Most guests found the farmhouse to be clean, particularly noting that vital areas such as kitchen worktops, bathrooms, and bedding were very clean. Some guests mentioned areas that could benefit from deeper cleaning, but these were seen as minor in the context of the property's overall cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for its peacefulness, beautiful scenery, and proximity to walking trails and the Lakes. It offers a perfect balance of seclusion and accessibility to local attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring the Lake District.

Guests generally found the farmhouse to be comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen, cosy rooms with fireplaces, and comfortable beds. Some guests mentioned that the property could be cold at times and that some mattresses were not as comfortable, suggesting room for improvement in this area.

The farmhouse is well-equipped with a utility room, kitchen gadgets, and outdoor furniture. However, some guests felt that the cooking facilities could be improved for larger groups, and there were occasional comments about maintenance issues such as heating and shower drainage.

Guests were touched by the thoughtful touches such as festive decorations and a welcome pack during the holiday season. While these gestures were highly appreciated, it is important to note that such personal touches are subject to the owners' discretion and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Set at the end of a private drive and alongside a working farm, Raisthwaite is a picture-perfect property, ideal for a large group of friends. This 17th century converted farmhouse has been adapted to make the perfect base for exploring the Lakes, and with two pets welcome, the whole family can enjoy the many nearby walks.

The house exudes warmth and country charm, with its large farmhouse kitchen and three reception rooms. The dining room is perfect for happy gatherings and features an original range with open fire. Whether getting together for breakfast or fierce boardgame battle, this room is guaranteed to be used by young and old alike. The two divinely comfortable sitting rooms both have wood burning stoves, TVs and lovely views, plenty of room for the whole group to spread out and relax. A utility room and separate shower are also located on this floor.

The first floor is home to four bedrooms, and shared bathroom. Two king size rooms, a double and generous twin each enjoy the wonderful views over the surrounding countryside, in some places reaching as far as Coniston Old Man. There is a family shower room on this floor comprising of Shower, Basin and WC . Stairs to the converted loft reveal a super king size suite with roll top bath, wc and basin. A great place for a long soak after a day on the hills.

With a pretty enclosed garden, an orchard and 25 acres of open space, pets and children can play and run until its time for supper and a night in front of the fire.

Dating back to the 11th century, Broughton-in-Furness is situated in the south western corner of the Lake District and is just six miles from Coniston Water. There is much to please the visitor such as a pretty, cobbled square complete with a splendid horse chestnut tree, enclosed by shops, pubs and homes, many of them Georgian in origin. The village provides an ideal base for a walking or climbing holiday, with ample opportunity to explore the rugged beauty of the Duddon Valley and the quieter Lake District fells. Norman Nicholson, one of Britain's finest 20th century poets and William Wordsworth, both immortalised this area in their writing and poetry. The village was home to Branwell Bronte, brother of the Bronte sisters, for a short time. The Furness railway line runs from nearby Foxfield and makes for an ideal day out, travelling the west coast of Cumbria. Set amidst the charm of the Lake District and close to the sea, this attractive town makes an inspiring choice from which to further explore a magical heartland of silver lakes, lofty towering peaks and lonely, heather-clad moors.
