The quaint town of Grange-over-Sands is set between Morecambe Bay and the Lake District fells, offering one of the mildest climates in the north of England. Formerly a small fishing village, the introduction of the Furness Railway transformed Grange-over-Sands into a popular Edwardian resort. Today, the town has much to offer, such as a traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts and excellent bird watching. Just a short drive away are Lake Windermere (8 miles), the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, which still retain the charm and character that has endeared them to so many, and the home of sticky toffee pudding, Cartmel, with its famous racecourse and the L’Enclume restaurant, which has been voted the 4th best restaurant in the UK. Further attractions in the area include Levens Hall, with its Elizabethan Hall and world-famous topiary gardens, Holker Hall, Furness Abbey, Sizergh Castle, a National Trust medieval house and gardens, and Conishead Priory, a Gothic revival country house. There is also the 25-mile Cistercian Way which starts at Grange over Sands. Set amidst the southern lakes, the attractive town of Grange-over-Sands makes a superb base from which to enjoy the whole of this delightful area.

No where to hand a few clothes, maybe instead of the heart decoration a couple of clothes pegs would have been helpful. No long mirror, with such nice restaurants it would be nice to see what you look like before you go, maybe one on the front of the bathroom door? The only other thing was a bit of mould in the shower needs scrubbing and treating. Otherwise an amazing place to stay and highly recommend the accommodation to anyone!

A lovely location, very peaceful and with great views and perfect for relaxing in the hot tub. There was everything we needed for our stay and we would recommend this accommodation. Cartmel is close by with some great places to eat and there is plenty to do in the surrounding area.

We could've quite easily spent all week in there but there is plenty to do a short drive away. The lodge is well furnished including the kitchenette meaning we could cook meals a few nights rather than having to eat out every night. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be returning. The only thing I would change is possibly some thicker blinds/curtains as with the lodge being south-facing, from 4am the sun makes it quite bright in there.
