Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage consistently receives high praise for its cleanliness, with multiple reviews highlighting the property as clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. This suggests a high standard of cleanliness that guests appreciate.

The location is frequently described as beautiful and peaceful, ideal for walks and close to local attractions. The rural setting and proximity to the Lake District contribute to a positive experience, although some guests noted limited nearby dining options.

Guests find the cottage comfortable and cosy, with special mentions of the quality bed linen and towels. However, some guests noted the beds were too hard, and a few suggested improvements like king-size beds or softer mattresses.

While the property is generally well-equipped, there are several mentions of missing amenities such as a washing machine, dishwasher, and more kitchen equipment. Some minor maintenance issues were also reported, such as a non-working microwave and cracked serving dishes.

The host's responsiveness and provision of local information are well-regarded, indicating thoughtfulness. Some guests mentioned welcome touches like fresh eggs and dog facilities. However, the lack of consistent welcome packs and basic essentials in some instances suggests room for improvement. It should be noted that while some guests received gifts, these are not guaranteed for all stays.

Set on the southern shores of Lake Windermere, the small, sleepy hamlet of Lakeside offers a peaceful getaway location, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the Lake District’s popular attractions, but still within easy reach of them. Whether you decide to discover the area in the car, by foot, bike, boat or steam, there’s plenty to see nearby to keep the whole family content. The ferry dock offers the chance to travel by boat to Waterhead or Bowness, or take a shorter trip to the National Trust’s Fell Foot Park, across the water, which offers pretty grounds set alongside the very tip of the lake, providing plenty of places for picnics, paddling, games and gentle strolls on sunny afternoons. Situated alongside the Lakeside Station is the long-standing Lakeside and Haverwaithe Railway, home to Britain’s oldest standard gauge steam engine, on which you can travel back in time along this well-loved Heritage line, and where little ones will delight in meeting Thomas and his friends. Visit the Lakes Aquarium to uncover the often-secretive world of life below water, where you’ll chance upon hundreds of captivating creatures that feature in the surrounding rivers, lakes and sea. There are wonderful, well-signed walks to be enjoyed in the immediate area, including the 5-mile route to Finsthwaite’s High Dam, which trails from Lakeside through pleasant woodlands and meadows. Lakeside offers an exclusive holiday location with all of the Lake District’s delights at your fingertips.

We’ve came back several times and expect we will continue to do so. Property provides a quiet, peaceful retreat from the crowds and the ambience of the working farm next door adds to that. Lots of things to see and do in the local area - especially walks which are in abundance.

We had 1 week at Abbots Reading Mews 1 and were very pleased with the property, Mark was very informant regarding local establishments and things to do, thank you

Clean, comfortable and well thought out accommodation fully equipped for visitors. The only improvement that I can think of would be the addition of some sort of drying area for wet walking gear. Many thanks for a great break.
