Guests that stayed at this property said

Most guests found Wood Cottage to be clean and well-maintained, though a few mentioned areas where cleanliness could be improved, such as a mouldy smell and grubby walls.

The cottage's central location in Kendal is highly regarded, offering easy access to local attractions and the Lake District. However, some guests found it difficult to locate initially.

While the cottage is generally seen as cosy and warm, some guests reported issues with comfort, such as a fusty smell in the bedroom and worn furnishings.

There are mixed reviews regarding facilities. Some guests were satisfied, but others reported a lack of amenities such as WiFi, washing machine, and dishwasher. Due to the inconsistency of the reports, a definitive score cannot be provided.

Guests were pleasantly surprised by the welcome pack of goodies, which added a thoughtful touch to their stay. It should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, may not be guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

A delightful, architect-designed terraced cottage, just a few minutes' walk from the centre of the charming town of Kendal. Tucked away in one of the narrow alleyways by one of Kendal's 'yards' this Lake District cottage has been imaginatively renovated with an upside down layout, with a stylish open-plan living area on the first floor, and the bedroom and wet room on the ground floor. An ideal romantic retreat, complete with its own Juliet balcony, the cottage is also a great base for exploring the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, and is within walking distance of the town centre shops, restaurants and pubs. The Brewery Arts Centre, and Abbot Hall and Museum are just 300 yards away, whilst pleasant walks along the River Kent, which flows through the town to the castle offering panoramic views of the town and Lakeland hills, are not to be missed. With magnificent lakes and beautiful countryside to explore, this great property has plenty to offer, at any time of year.

The historic Lakeland town of Kendal sits on the banks of the River Kent, the 12th Century ruins of Kendal Castle look out over the town from its lofty hillside perch. Kendal has many visitor attractions including The Abbot Hall Art Gallery, which has a regular collection of portraits by local artist George Romney, and works by Ruskin and Turner. There are many fine eateries and opportunities for shopping within the town, whilst the surrounding area is a paradise for walkers and cyclists and offers a host of other outdoor pursuits. The countryside is a spectacular setting for historic properties such as Sizergh Castle and the Topiary Garden at nearby Levens Hall are most impressive. This area is a superb base for visiting this beautiful part of Britain.

But for me, trying to take a break from such things, these were both plusses! The apartment is convenient to everything in Kendal and very comfortable, if small. The only issue is that the owner apparently has his phone set to reject calls from outside the UK, which made it tricky for foreigners like me to reach him to get the key box code.

There was no washing machine, but he sorted it. Would definitely stay again. Mrs Hobbs
