About this property

A charming second floor cottage, a short walk from the centre of the bustling Cumbrian market town of Kendal. Located in Yard 23, this quaint cottage apartment provides spacious accommodation with a large dining/kitchen area with beams, together with a sitting room with original stone features. This Kendal apartment has three bedrooms and a lovely bathroom which is perfect for relaxing in at the end of the day. Kendal is a thriving market town with many fine restaurants and cafes located down "Yards" - small narrow alleyways which branch off from the main streets. A traditional market is held twice a week in the square and a farmers' market is held on the last Friday of each month, a perfect opportunity to sample some of the delights produced in the area. The Brewery Arts Centre regularly hosts specialist exhibitions including the Mountain Film Festival in November and Mintfest, Kendal's International Festival of Street Art, which runs at the end of August each year. With the Lake District on your doorstep, this Kendal cottage offers a superb base to explore the spectacular mountains and lakes returning to enjoy the fabulous amenities in this "auld grey town".

Kendal is set on the banks of the River Kent offering old cobbled lanes and byways, ruins of a 12th Century castle, The Abbot Hall Art Gallery, shops and pubs. Close by is Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall, plus there are walking routes in the area.

The property is very spacious and has some lovely original features and lots of character, our grandchildren particularly love the coloured lights which illuminate the ‘loft’ space visible above the kitchen. Well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds, excellent location close to bus and train stations and town centre shops. Parking space is an unusual asset in central Kendal. The property owner is very friendly and helpful. We have been visiting Kendal for some years now as we have family living locally, and we enjoy the feeling of it still being a real town rather than somewhere wholly geared to tourists.

    Thank you!

Also, it was difficult to get the central heating to work efficiently - we switched it off at night to stop over heating.
