About this property

Cunsey Mill House is situated on beautiful grounds, just moments away from a peaceful lake in the village of Cunsey, Cumbria. This pet-friendly dwelling is part of The Graythwaite Estate, so you can enjoy an array of on-site facilities, perfect for a family of six and two dogs. The sitting room hosts three sofas, where you can unwind in front of the Smart TV as the woodburning stove gently crackles. Stepping through the home, the well-equipped kitchen has everything you need for a self-catered stay, including an electric oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and a dishwasher. On balmy evenings, why not dine alfresco on the outdoor patio, with a barbecue to rustle up delicious snacks. As the sky darkens, retire inside and venture to the first floor, where you will find a king-size with a freestanding bath, basin and heated towel rail, another king-size and a delightful twin bedroom. In the morning, awaken tired eyes with a short stroll to the shores of Lake Windermere to admire the natural scenery and afterwards you can enjoy pub fare at Cuckoo Brow Inn. Visit the charming village of Hawkshead for a greater selection of restaurants and cafes to treat your loved ones or browse quaint gift stores to purchase a souvenir. Explore the nearby attractions, including the National Trust house, Hill Top, to tour Beatrix Potters' charming home, admire lakeside views from Claife Viewing Station and Windermere West Shore as you savour a coffee or immerse yourself in the past at Stott Park Bobbin Mill. Also within easy reach is the small town of Ambleside, the perfect place for avid walkers to ramble the countryside, and stop off at traditional pubs for a bite to eat. For a special stay in the countryside of Cumbria, consider Cunsey Mill House.

The charming community of Hawkshead still possesses the charm and personality that made it so appealing to its most well-known residents, Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. Between the whitewashed 17th century homes, visitors can explore the abundance of little passageways, thoroughfares, archways, and courtyards. In addition to the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which hosts an annual changing display of the renowned author's pictures and stories, the village is home to a number of charming inns, teashops, guest houses, and gift shops. You may visit the location where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form and even see the desk into which he wrote his name as a young child by visiting the Old Grammar School, which is still standing today.

Stunning inside and so quiet and peaceful it felt we were in a private estate. Easy to get the paddle boards straight out on the lake and loads of interesting smells for a free roaming dog. Easy walk to the ferry to Windermere and to Grizedale Forrest to the West. Check coop times in Hawkshead as on line timings are not correct!
