Kirkstone Cottage is said to be one of the oldest cottages in Ambleside and dates back to the 15th century. Perfect for couples, this retreat offers a romantic break all year round with scenic attractions on your doorstep. Upon entering you will be welcomed by a charming sitting room, home to a leather sofa, and an arm chair. Relax in the evening amongst the ornamental features and enjoy a cosy night in. The kitchen is complete with charming units and is a comforting place to prepare those home cooked meals before sitting down at the nearby dining table. The bathroom is a wonderful arrangement for getting ready in the morning, or simply relaxing after a long afternoon. Both a roll-top bath and separate shower cubical set the room off well for an elegant yet quirky ambience. Wander up to the first floor where you will arrive at a king-size double bedroom with exposed beams with the room furnished in a pine overtone and overlooking the Little House on the Bridge. Characterful with patterned bedding and wall mirrors, this room promises a peaceful sleep night after night. For some fresh air, you can rest on the outside bench and take in the lovely location. The town of Ambleside is ideal for central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to enjoy here from cruises, boat trips and watersports. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland boasts lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach. You are guaranteed a pleasant stay whatever you decide.

Ambleside makes a base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is much to enjoy here from cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers views down the lake and a short stretch of beach.
