Snaptrip says

Barney's Cottage in Ambleside is praised for its central location, cleanliness, and cosy atmosphere, with a log burning stove and underfloor heating adding to its charm. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, modern bathroom, and the convenience of on-site parking. While some noted areas for improvement, the cottage's proximity to shops, restaurants, and walks, as well as thoughtful touches like books and games, contribute to its appeal for a Lake District holiday.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests found Barney's Cottage to be clean and well-presented. There were a few isolated comments about the property being 'a little tired' and one mention of stained duvets, but these were not the norm. The positive remarks about cleanliness suggest that the property is generally maintained to a high standard.

The cottage's central location in Ambleside is highly praised by guests for its convenience to local amenities and as a base for exploring the Lake District. The added benefit of on-site parking is frequently mentioned as a significant advantage. The location is one of the most consistently commended features.

Guests describe the cottage as comfortable, cosy, and homely, with a warm atmosphere enhanced by a log burning stove. However, some guests mentioned issues with bed comfort and seating, suggesting room for improvement in this area.

The cottage is appreciated for its well-equipped kitchen and modern bathroom. However, there are several comments about maintenance issues such as a problematic cooker hood light, windows that don't stay open, and a wet room design that leads to water spreading. These points indicate that while the facilities are generally good, there is a need for some attention to detail and repairs.

While guests mention thoughtful touches like books, games, and walk suggestions, there are no specific references to gifts provided by the owners. Therefore, it is not possible to score this category accurately, and the score is set to null.

Very centrally located in Ambleside and has on site parking. Excellent WIFI signal throughout the cottage, for us with teenagers essential. Lovely selection of books and games. The only thing we found was the mattress in the main bedroom was too firm for us but that is down to personal preference.

The seating provided was not quality & was not comfy ! The beds were the same ! Unable to open windows or sit out as just too toxic - constantly inhaling vehicle fumes ! The unkempt garden at the front of the property would lend itself better to a bench seat for those who would perhaps want to sit out ! ☹️☹️☹️
