Guests say

Middlerigg Cottage in Ambleside is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the property's peaceful setting. The cottage's proximity to local attractions and the ease of access to buses and ferries are frequently mentioned. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Reviewers consistently mention the excellent standard of cleanliness throughout the property, describing it as spotless and well-maintained.

The cottage's location is celebrated for its convenience and quietness, with easy access to local attractions and transport links, although there is a mention of it lacking a garden.

Guests find the beds extremely comfortable and the property overall very cosy, contributing to a restful stay.

The property is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and offers a good selection of DVDs. However, some guests noted issues with the shower and toilet flush, and a non-functioning outside light.

While the reviews reflect a positive experience, there is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the host, so a score cannot be provided.

Ambleside. a contemporary, characterful Lakeland village with a spectacular backdrop of Lake District fells. Ideal for walking, cycling or boating activities, its also a lovely spot for contemporary shops, leisurely lake cruises, acclaimed Lake District restaurants and cosy traditional pubs. There are 2 cinemas, a Jazz bar and the Lake Cruises leave regularly from Waterhead, a great way to explore without driving. The tiny 'Bridge House' is one of the most photographed places here, sat on a bridge in the middle of the village. Oh, and don’t forget our Roman fort, Galava. One of William Wordsworth's former family homes can be visited nearby at Rydal Mount & Gardens. His Grasmere home, Dove Cottage, is also worth a visit and only a short drive away on the scenic A591. You can also head over the equally scenic Kirkstone Pass to the beautiful Ullswater Valley.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

We very much appreciated the lovely beds, the excellent kitchen/cooking facilities and the amount of storage space. The location was great for accessing Windermere and Ambleside. We only discovered the walk through the woods from the property at the end of our stay, so more clear directions on how to find this could be helpful!
