Nestled in the lively market town of Penrith in Cumbria, is this charming Victorian holiday home, 2 Mill Street. Set over three floors and enjoying original features with its high, moulded ceilings and crackling open fire, this property is ideal for a family of five seeking an adventure. Discover the sitting room, hosting two leather sofas for you to curl up on as the open fire warms your toes and the Smart TV does the entertaining. Venture downstairs to the lower ground-floor to rustle up tasty dishes with the electric oven and gas hob, and dine in the room adjacent to tuck into a feast. As the evening draws to an end, indulge in a bubble bath in the ground-floor bathroom or step in the walk in shower for a hot rinse. Climb upstairs to take your pick between three spacious bedrooms, including a double, a twin bedroom and single bedroom. Awaken with a home cooked breakfast in the sage dining room, as tea is poured and plans are made for the day in Penrith. Unveil the history of the town by exploring the ruins of Penrith Castle, a great place for a picnic, enjoy a guided tour around the Penrith and Eden Museum, or venture outside the town for the 13th century Brougham Castle, which rests besides a peaceful river. Jump in the car to discover the dramatic landscape of the Lake District National Park, home to glistening lakes and rugged mountains, a great place for the explorers at heart. Visit the market town of Keswick, where you can browse boutiques along compact streets, have a fun learning experience at Derwent Pencil Museum and soak in the culture at Gallery 26. For a lovely base to explore the gems of Cumbria, secure 2 Mill Street.
The lively market town of Penrith, originally the capital of Cumbria, is centrally located between the Lake District and the North Pennines, making it ideal for exploring the region's attractions. Penrith's sandstone houses hide intriguing yards, roads, and alleyways, with a plethora of lovely cottages, gardens, and small stores, and is known for its wealth of specialised shops. Location ideal for public transport dependent visitors. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Just some maintenance issues: 1 the lights in the stairwell down to the kitchen don't work 2 a bedside lamp in the single bedroom is missing (found broken in a cupboard) 3 the extracting hose of the dryer was loose and we jerry-rigged it with a shoelace before the dryer could be used; instructions for dryer use would be helpful 4 instructions for wifi are out of date; only by scanning the QR code under the router did we find the correct one; the one printed on the router does not work 5 a waterproof mat in front of the shower might help preserve the beautiful carpet in the bathroom

Well-equipped and comfortable. Very clean with the exception of the blue hall/stairs/landing carpet which was covered with white dog hairs. A couple of things that would improve the stay would be a visitors pack with details of WiFi (the info is underneath the box, not on the back as the Sykes rep kept saying) and what to do with bed linen etc and rubbish (requested an email giving instructions from Sykes but didn't receive). Owners left their Facebook details for questions but I'm not on Facebook. Also, some hangers would be handy. On the whole, really enjoyed the trip and would recommend. A great introduction to Cumbria for our Ukrainian guest.
