The picturesque village of Pooley Bridge sits on the northerly edge of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District National Park. The name Pooley came to be due to the forming of a large pool, which was left by the fast flowing River Eamont, and the word Bridge was later added when a bridge, which is now 250 years old, was built over the river. Pooley Bridge has many traditional inns and tempting tea rooms, plus the Ullswater Steamers depart from the village, from where a tranquil cruise down the lake to the villages of Glenridding and Howtown can be enjoyed. There are numerous walks with breathtaking views nearby, plus a short walk up to Dunmallard Hill reveals fascinating Iron-Age remains, whilst the towns of Penrith and Keswick are within driving distance. Pooley Bridge is an ideal base for a cottage holiday stay in the stunning Lake District.

It was our first time using the sykes accommodation and visiting the area. It was just perfect, I was worried we might need utensils etc, but everything was provided. The accommodation was so lovely, comfortable and clean and had just about everything we needed for our stay. Will definitely be coming back next year!! Thank you for a fabulous stay
Mike
The only issue was that we got a little impatient waiting for the wood fired hot tub to get up to temperature, but it was worth it once we were in it! Check out the viewing area, it's stunning.

Iâve been travelling to the Lakes for a few years and rarely stay in the same place twice - however, I will definitely be staying here again. The cabin is a great size for me and my girlfriend and is clean, comfortable, and has everything we needed. The wood fired hot tub is a great idea and the instructions are pretty simple to follow and get it up to temperature.
