There is dramatic mountain scenery to the south, as well as the gentle hills of the north. This region is popular among walkers, climbers and cyclists of all levels of ability. There are various water sports for all abilities too and lots of family activities. Along with historical sites of interest, Ullswater has a strong nautical history, having been a popular sailing destination for centuries. There are marinas placed all around the lake. Also, on the west side of the lake is the beautiful Aira Force Waterfall. It is one of the National Park’s most popular natural tourist attractions. We took advantage of being so close to Ullswater to go for a swim though were eventually defeated by the weather. This forced us to stay inside mostly but that was no bad thing with how comfortable and spacious everything was! I would definitely stay here again.
