Ulverston 7 miles. Brimstone is a contemporary apartment, perfectly placed in the southern Lake District village of Backbarrow, near Newby Bridge, at the foot of Lake Windermere, Cumbria. An excellent location for a peaceful retreat to start your outdoor adventures, giving easy access to both the Southern and Western Lakes, ideal for friends and families alike. A perfect base to enjoy walking, and wild water swimming, and for the cyclists there is secure cycle storage. There’s a wealth of cultural interest, within this Unesco World Heritage Centre. The most stunning place to appreciate the stone walled fields in their natural backdrop, but providing so much interest for visitors of all ages looking for a memorable stay. On arrival, there are two dedicated car park spaces. Enter the welcoming hallway into a pristine open-plan living space complete with a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area and seating for all, a Smart TV, along with excellent WiFi. Neutral furnishings and well-equipped kitchen facilities, crockery and glassware to welcome your arrival, perfect to unwind after a day of adventure. The small village of Backbarrow sits by the banks of the River Leven and the southern tip of Lake Windermere. The views of the magnificent river from the lounge area enable you to watch the daredevils on their rafts fly by using the power of the river or sit and watch the local wildlife. The famous Haverthwaite Steam Railway runs close by, with the Lakeland Motor Museum, Haverthwaite and Aquarium of the Lakes in proximity. Ulverston, Grange Over Sands and the quaint Cartmel village host a variety of independent shops steeped in history. Bowness-on-Windermere provides a lovely day out, with shopping, swans and boat rides. The picturesque village of Hawkshead retains the charm that endeared its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Ulverston is a traditional market town built around a cobbled main street. It boasts a fine selection of independent shops, café’s, and pubs with open fires and real ales. There is an extensive selection of eating places to suit everyone, from fine dining to traditional pub food. Ulverston is also well known as a festival town, with events ranging from flags and walking to art and music festivals throughout the summer months and with the renowned Dickensian Christmas festival in late November. It is the birthplace of Stan Laurel and world record holder of the biggest foam pie fight in the world giving a glimpse into the fun community spirited little town. There are excellent walks around the town and beautiful countryside, with views of the southern Lake District and Morecambe Bay. Home to the deepest, widest and shortest canal, which makes for a lovely afternoon walk with a pub at the end and views over the bay. All of the attractions of the National Park are also easily reached. The Furness Coast boasts sandy beaches and good birdwatching. Nearby family attractions include the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Lakes Windermere and Coniston and popular Birkrigg Common, with its incredible panoramic views across Morecambe Bay.
