Guests say

Langdale View is a spacious and comfortable property with stunning views, particularly from the upper rooms. Guests have enjoyed the peaceful location and the convenience for exploring the Lake District. The property's cleanliness and warm atmosphere have been appreciated, although some guests noted it could benefit from a touch of maintenance.

The property generally received positive remarks on cleanliness, with several guests noting it was very clean and tidy. However, a few guests mentioned issues such as dead flies in the bath and stained duvets, which slightly lowers the score.

The location is praised for its stunning views and peacefulness, suitable for exploring nearby attractions. However, some guests were disappointed with the lack of direct lake access and the distance from Windermere, which affects the score.

Most guests found the property comfortable, with special mentions of comfy beds and a warm house. Some concerns about specific mattresses and seating stability were noted, which slightly impacts the comfort score.

The facilities, including updated bathrooms and a well-stocked kitchen, were appreciated. However, guests reported maintenance issues such as leaks, broken patio furniture, and a need for better kitchen resources, which affects the score.

While some guests mentioned a Christmas tree and appreciated the accommodation of their dogs, there is insufficient information to determine a consistent level of thoughtfulness in terms of gifts or special touches provided by the host.

About this property

Once part of a Windermere gentlemen’s residence, this charming property is close to the shores of Lake Windermere. Langdale View, as its name suggests, enjoys fabulous views of the famous Pikes and has been cleverly designed to take full advantage of its setting.

A private drive leads to this and just two other properties, with guests of Langdale View enjoying private parking for two cars. A large entrance hall offers plenty of storage space for coats and boots, and benefits from a useful cloakroom with washbasin and wc. The ground floor sitting room is a wonderfully light space with lots of room for guests to spread out and relax. Welcoming sofas, a large bay window and patio doors leading out onto the terrace make this room very special. The kitchen comes with a generous dining area and is equipped with everything a large party might need to prepare a hearty breakfast before a day on the water, Sunday lunch or evening meal.

On the first floor are three of the property’s four bedrooms. A gorgeous double with stunning views of the Langdale Pikes and an en-suite power shower room, and two twin bedded rooms, both with fabulous views and their own en-suite facilities. The first has an en-suite power shower room and the second has an en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath. The loft suite is up a final flight of stairs. Not only does this room have its own en-suite, but also a separate living space and terrace. Who wouldn’t enjoy an al-fresco breakfast with superb views like these?

Windermere itself is a lively village with a fine variety of shops, restaurants and bars. Guests are within walking distance of a fabulous quirky cinema, independent boutiques and local theatre, as well as lake cruises, boat hire and a range of water sports. There is most certainly something to please everyone in your group.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.

We had a great time the house was perfect just a few minor gripes 1 there was no fish slice so hard to cook eggs 2 there is a wasp nest outside the patio door which made being in the garden difficult 3 there was no hot water on the shower over the bath in bedroom 3 4 toaster had a broken handle was was difficult to use 5 no welcome booklet with instructions for the oven etc 6 some of the lights were not working As I said these were minor gripes and did not distract from a great holiday and we would definitely stay there again

Would benefit from having the entire ground floor laid with laminate rather than the carpet which is suffering age related issues. Would also benefit from having the duvets replaced as they had lots of staining on them. A great position just outside of Windermere and very peaceful

Some of the grouting in the bathrooms needs refreshing as it is starting to go a bit mouldy, the bathroom door handle in the top room was coming off and a hand towel in the downstairs toilet would be useful. The facilities were ideal for us though and we enjoyed our stay.
