Guests say

High Rigg Apartment is a well-located property in Windermere with a sunny disposition and convenient proximity to local amenities. Guests appreciate the Scandi-style furnishings and the balcony views. While some maintenance issues have been noted, the owner appears responsive to feedback, with improvements such as a new mattress being implemented during a guest's stay.

The cleanliness has been brought into question by a guest who arrived to an unclean apartment. However, as there is only one mention of cleanliness issues, it suggests that this may not be a consistent problem.

The location is highly praised for its convenience and proximity to local amenities, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.

Comfort has been compromised by a faulty double mattress and a problematic sofa, but the twin room received positive remarks for sleep quality. The owner's responsiveness to replace the mattress indicates a commitment to comfort.

Facilities have mixed reviews with some items broken or not working, such as the oven, grill, and TV. However, the apartment is described as well-equipped and the owner has shown willingness to address issues.

There is no mention of gifts or additional thoughtful touches provided by the owner, so it is not possible to assess this category.

About this property

High Rigg is a wonderful, second-floor apartment resting in Bowness-on-Windermere. Boasting off-street parking and just a short distance from Lake Windermere, it makes for an ideal base for a family of four.

After a long day of exploring, come back to your home-away-from-home and unwind by watching a film on the Smart TV. A well-equipped kitchen has all the tools you'll need to whip up a tasty, home-cooked meal for the whole family to savour around the dinner table, whilst you listen to each other's favourite parts of the day. In the evenings, relax with a glass of wine on the balcony overlooking the trees that line Lake Windermere. When sleep calls, tuck the kids in the twin room before retiring for a well-earned rest in the plush double.

When you're ready, head on-foot into the centre of Bowness-on-Windermere, which rests on the magnificent Lake Windermere. The World of Beatrix Potter, just a short walk from your lodgings; the National Trust's Wray Castle; Brockhole on Windermere; and Treetop Lake District's Treetop Trek and Treetop Nets are just a few of the many family-friendly attractions you can enjoy here.

If you're looking for something to eat or drink after a day of sightseeing, The Ship Inn and Porto Restaurant are great options in the town. You can also visit the market town of Kendal, which is a great place to shop for souvenirs.

The Kendal Museum and the Lakeland Museum are among the town's most popular tourist attractions, and no trip to Kendal would be complete without a taste of the renowned Kendal Mint Cake! Ambleside, a nearby town just north along the Lake, is well worth a visit. The Ambleside Roman Fort is a great place for history enthusiasts to visit and be sure to pop into Zeffirellis or Copper Pot to refuel and relax after a day of exploring the town.

High Rigg is the ultimate location for a family getaway to the Lake District

Visitors to the Lake District National Park are drawn to the lively twin towns of Bowness and Windermere because each one offers a variety of adjacent attractions, facilities, a movie theatre, shops, and restaurants to satisfy all tastes. At the southern end of the lake, where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are located, Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness offers a choice of boat cruises and boat rental to Brockhole, Ambleside, and Lakeside. The Old Laundry Theatre and the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction are separated by 1.5 kilometres. It takes 30 minutes to walk to Orrest Head to take in the breathtaking vista of far-reaching views over the lake and nearby fells, which served as the inspiration for Alfred Wainwright to create his series of renowned guidebooks. There is no mirror in either of the bedrooms so it was difficult to dry our hair and put on any makeup, we both sort out a full land mirror in each room would be a massive improvement. During the state we have no hot water, thankfully the electric shower did provide hot water but you may wish to look into this. The couch is a very lovely colour but it is not very comfortable. We also thought that the addition of some pictures in the sitting area would also be a good idea. Overall, we had a nice day in your apartment and I hope you take a comments in the spirit they intended, which is to improve the flat.

Arrived to find the apartment dirty and unclean, items broken, not working, no hot water for a day, childrens bedroom window would not shut or secure, and settee in disrepair. The apartment had not been maintained or cleaned, but that was only the start of my problems as the after care was even worse. I was informed that the owner had been notified once I reported the problems on the very first day (fri 4th) and was promised daily that cleaners would attend, but they did not come until Wednesday 9th. We had to stay in first night so that mainentance could look at the hot water. It had been turned off at the mains so couldnt have a bath, or shower, or wash hands with warm water until the following day. It has also transpired looking at reviews of the property that the other issues i reported were known to the owner a couple of months before our stay so there is clearly no regard to resolve these before renting it out. I would be very concerned for people wanting to stay with young toddlers as the window in the spare room is dangerous especially as this is not ground floor accommodation.

I like the scandi style furnishings and the balcony which lets in more light. The appartment is well equipped and was lovely to return to after my days sailing on the lake. It is well sound proofed between appartments and there was no noise from outside. The location is ideal and very close to the coop and local resteraunts. My suggestions for improvement are: 1 Clean the balcony doors and windows because they do not reflect the rest of the appartment but at what you see first when you go to look at the view. 2 Improve the information in the file on using the TV and the internet. I couldn't' get the tv working on the first evening without googling the signal issue, running a diagnosis and then reconecting it to the internet when I eventually found the little card with the code on at 10pm. 3 Make it clear how to warm the water using the switch in the hall and the one in the kitchen I would go back again and know the owner responds to feedback because a new matress arrived while I was there to replace the wonky one identified by previous customers.
