Ridgway Lodge offers a delightful stay with its hot tub being a consistent highlight among guests. The property's location in Windermere is praised for its convenience and proximity to local attractions. The lodge's comfort and facilities generally meet expectations, providing a cosy and well-equipped environment for a family or group getaway.
Cleanliness received mixed feedback. Some guests found the lodge to be very clean, while others reported issues such as rubbish under chairs, greasy kitchen utensils, and a scummy film on the hot tub. These instances suggest room for improvement in cleaning standards.
The lodge's location is highly regarded, with guests appreciating its setting in Windermere, close to attractions like Brockhole and Lake Windermere boat rides. The convenience and beauty of the location contribute to a positive experience.
Guests find the lodge comfortable, with spacious rooms and cosy living areas. Some minor discomforts were mentioned, such as a wobbly dining table and uncomfortable twin beds, but overall, the lodge provides a relaxing environment.
Facilities are generally well-received, with the hot tub being a standout feature. However, there are reports of maintenance issues like a loose screw on the dishwasher, outdated PAT tests, and a need for redecoration in damp-prone areas. These suggest that while facilities are good, there is a need for ongoing maintenance.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.
Ridgway is a spacious three-bedroom holiday lodge at White Cross Bay, in a quieter area of the park, and just a short walk to the clubhouse and facilities. With a spacious deck, outdoor furniture and hot tub, it’s a superb base for your adventures and a relaxing place to return to after a busy day out and prepare your evening meal together whilst you swap stories about your day. The lodge has a ramp (has a small lip on the bottom) entrance making it easier to access but it is not fully adapted for wheelchair use.A travel cot is provided free of charge, which will fit in the master bedroom only and will be left in the lodge for you to put up. Please bring your own bedding for the travel cot. White Cross Bay is in a fabulous location, on the shores of Lake Windermere, with clubhouse and shop.. With views across the water and to the surrounding fells, you are literally in the heart of the Lake District and your lodge will be just a few yards from the waterside. Note: Some facilities on the park are subject to extra cost such as use of the pool, entertainment, bar and restaurant. 500 yards up the main A591 is Brockhole Lake District Visitor Centre, with its gardens, house, café, restaurant, walks, boats, adventure playground and Tree Top Trek: there’s lots to do! You’re also just two miles from Windermere village with shops, cafes and pubs, and three miles from Bowness boat landings, where the cruisers come in. Bowness is a cosmopolitan village with award-winning restaurants and pubs and quirky shops, a cinema and the World of Beatrix Potter attraction. Three miles in the other direction, head to Ambleside, another bustling town with shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants and of course, walks in every direction. Two miles north on the A592 is the pretty village of Troutbeck, home to two traditional pubs with log fires: The Queens Head and the Mortal man; Holehird Gardens, and the National Trust’s Townend House. Further on you climb up to the magnificent Kirkstone Pass, then drop down to Brotherswater & Ullswater. A wonderful place to make your happy memories of the Lake District.
The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. The deck needs proper cleaning and moss is falling from the roof. The carpet needs deep cleaning or changing. The dinner table is wobbly. The ensuite bathroom was dusty and mouldy which made me sneeze a lot. The main bedroom blinds needs changing to a more friendly and brighter blinds. Otherwise it's a nice cabin if given 100% attention.

The rest of the lodge needed upgrading or some tlc (mould in bathrooms, broken mirror etc). I would suggest replacing carpet with hard flooring as it is now dog friendly. The decking is badly in need of some tlc and the outdoor furniture was very worn. The main problem is the ramp- we booked this lodge as my Mum is disabled but the ramp is not flush to the path/walkway. It was impossible for Mum to use her electric scooter to get up the ramp. I think this should be rectified immediately if you are stating âramp accessâ. We always enjoy staying at White Cross Bay but will not return to this particular lodge.

Made good use of all facilities and lodge itself was well equipped
