Walkers Rest in Windermere is praised for its prime location, spaciousness, and comfort, with many guests planning to return. The property's cleanliness is consistently noted, and its proximity to local amenities and the quiet setting despite being central are appreciated. Some concerns over maintenance and the steepness of stairs are mentioned, but overall, guests have had enjoyable stays.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The property generally receives high marks for cleanliness, with several reviews specifically mentioning the high standard maintained. However, a few guests noted areas where cleanliness could be improved, slightly affecting the score.

The location is highly praised for being central and close to shops, restaurants, and local attractions, with easy access to public transport. The convenience of the location contributes to a very high score.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the property spacious, contributing to a positive experience. Some concerns about suitability for those with mobility issues and the condition of certain furniture items slightly lower the score.

The property is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, but there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as heating, lighting, and outdoor areas that need attention. These comments suggest room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

There is insufficient information regarding any thoughtful gestures such as gifts, and therefore, this category cannot be scored. No reviews mention gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the property owners or managers.

Our first impression was the unkempt entrance and the musty smell in the kitchen. But the worst impressiowe n was the dirty terrace with leaves and moss and and dirty sitting area. We the companyand and -although it was told that somebody should clean the terrace, nobody did it during the time we lived there. There were also no items with which we could have cleaned the yard ourselves. This was very disappointing !

I mis-read the description & thought there was a bathroom on each floor of the bedrooms but as I was sleeping in the bedroom on the middle floor I either had to go up or downstairs to use the toilet in the night. The property is ideally situated a minutes walk from Windermere & with a frequent bus service other parts of the Lake District are easily accessible. The kitchen is very well equpped if you are planning on eating in. As others have said, an information folder would have been good. There are no toiletries (not even a bar of soap) so you need to take your own & the handles for both external doors are incredibly stiff to lock & unlock.

Had a disappointing start to the holiday as the place had not been cleaned or made ready since the last occupants had left. so had to call the helpline number, cleaner arrived after about an hour and we left them to it and was all good there after. Bin at the front gate was overflowing when we arrived and we had to walk past every day until the bin lorry came, rubbish was blowing about the street and we think this annoyed the neighbours as well as ourselves with the constant picking up, also bin lorry would only take what was in the bin so when this was emptied it was quickly full again with the bags left at the side. Apart from that the cottage is a great wee traditional lake district cottage.
