Guests say

The Blithe Hare is a quaint cottage in Windermere, appreciated for its cosy charm, good central heating, and modern touches like smart TV and WiFi. Guests have enjoyed the comfortable beds and the property's suitability as a base for exploring the Lake District. The cottage's unique decor and the warmth of the local community add to its appeal.

Reviews indicate a mix of experiences regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the cottage very clean, while others noted issues with kitchen grease, a smell from the drains, and a lack of thorough cleaning by the changeover team. The upstairs area generally received positive remarks for cleanliness.

The location is well-regarded for its proximity to local attractions and the Lake District, with guests finding it a good base for exploration. However, some noted the parking and access could be challenging, and the proximity to the A591 was a concern for a few.

Comfort levels are varied among guests. The main bedroom and bathroom are praised, but the living room seating is considered insufficient for three adults. The firmness of the beds received mixed reviews, and some guests found the cottage cosy and warm, while others suggested improvements for comfort.

Facilities are generally good, with mentions of a well-functioning central heating system, smart TV, and WiFi. However, there are several reports of maintenance issues such as problems with the kitchen equipment, lack of cupboard space for food, and a need for decluttering. The garden size and upkeep were also points of contention.

There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as it pertains to gifts or special touches provided by the host. While some guests mentioned a lack of welcome pack or starter kit for the fire, there are no consistent references to gifts or thoughtful gestures that could be evaluated.

The bedroom and bathroom are very well furnished and comfortable. The downstairs is less so - the settee in the living room is saggy and past its best, the kitchen table is too big for the room, and the bottom oven of the cooker was filthy when we arrived. The gothic Victorian decor is also an interesting choice. However the cottage is warm and cosy, and we would certainly consider staying again if returning to the area.

I appreciated the washing up liquid/sponge set provided, the huge fluffy white towels were a treat too. We found the beds comfortable after a busy day out, the sofa was soft but not uncomfortable. The eclectic mix of crockery was a little strange and there were no bowls for cereal etc which would have been useful but overall a great place to stay, wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Only a small dog would suit. The upstairs is lovely and quaint, nice details. Very quiet slept well. The wooden strip to the single bed door is loose and uncomfortable to step on. The kitchen table is too big and if smaller could access the oven better. Well appointed had everything needed. The lounge needs an extra comfy chair so 3 adult’s can sit. A little bit more attention to some cleaning needed. Very good spot with frequent buses just on the road and we found adequate parking on road as well after dropping bags off. Overall good value for money. Thank you.
