The Blithe Hare is an archetypal , 17th century Lakeland property sitting on a sleepy row in Troutbeck Bridge close to the Troutbeck Valley and equidistant from the vibrant villages of Windermere and Ambleside. The magical and stylish interior of this chocolate box cottage has been lovingly curated with panache to provide the perfect, romantic bolt hole offering a cosy living space complete with an eclectic mix of hand-picked furnishings, accessories and artwork.
The area surrounding the property is fabulous walking territory, suitable for all abilities; there’s an easy walk to Millerground where you can head down to the water's edge and enjoy the breathtaking views up to Ambleside and the Langdale Valley. Alternatively, head closer to Ambleside and you can ascend the slopes of Loughrigg Fell or Wansfell Pike. The Blithe Hare also enjoys easy access to a well-stocked shop, a great themed restaurant, The Sun Inn and you’ll also get to use Choices Leisure Club with its gym, pool, sauna and steam room.
The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.

The bedroom and bathroom are very well furnished and comfortable. The downstairs is less so - the settee in the living room is saggy and past its best, the kitchen table is too big for the room, and the bottom oven of the cooker was filthy when we arrived. The gothic Victorian decor is also an interesting choice. However the cottage is warm and cosy, and we would certainly consider staying again if returning to the area.

I appreciated the washing up liquid/sponge set provided, the huge fluffy white towels were a treat too. We found the beds comfortable after a busy day out, the sofa was soft but not uncomfortable. The eclectic mix of crockery was a little strange and there were no bowls for cereal etc which would have been useful but overall a great place to stay, wouldnât hesitate to book again.

Only a small dog would suit. The upstairs is lovely and quaint, nice details. Very quiet slept well.The wooden strip to the single bed door is loose and uncomfortable to step on. The kitchen table is too big and if smaller could access the oven better. Well appointed had everything needed. The lounge needs an extra comfy chair so 3 adultâs can sit. A little bit more attention to some cleaning needed. Very good spot with frequent buses just on the road and we found adequate parking on road as well after dropping bags off. Overall good value for money. Thank you.
