Guests say

The Whins in Windermere is highly praised for its comfort, well-equipped facilities, and beautiful location. Guests appreciate the tasteful presentation, quality furnishings, and the property's readiness for their stay. The garden and surrounding views are repeatedly mentioned as highlights, contributing to a serene and idyllic experience. Some minor issues are noted, but the overall sentiment is extremely positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

The property generally receives high marks for cleanliness, with guests finding it well-appointed and comfortable. However, a few guests noted minor issues such as crumbs on the kitchen floor and stains inside cupboards, which slightly detract from an otherwise clean environment.

The location is consistently lauded for its ideal positioning close to Bowness, Windermere, and various walking trails. The scenic and secluded setting is a highlight for many guests, contributing to the property's charm.

Guests find The Whins very comfortable, with special mentions of the comfortable beds and furniture. There is a single mention of beds needing an upgrade, but overall, the comfort level is rated highly.

The property is celebrated for being well-equipped and maintained, with a large screen TV and good quality equipment. Some guests mentioned issues such as unavailable log burners and a heating problem, but these seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.

While guests are pleased with the overall experience, there is no specific mention of gifts or special touches that would fall under the category of thoughtfulness. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

Enjoyed feeding and watching the wildlife. Some things that would have made our stay even better were a hand rail leading down along the three steps to the back door also a hand rail on the hall stairway on the opposite side to the existing one and taken to the bottom stair to make it safer. The description should mention it is tricky pulling out on to the road from the house, as the traffic is quite busy both day and night it is fast and you have to rely on windows down to hear approaching traffic would a roadside mirror be possible opposite the gate. Finally it is the only property we have ever been to that doesn’t even have the basic starter pack of dishcloth, washing sponge, two dishwasher tablets. Overall we would recommend The Whins to family and friends but would mention our minor concerns.

It was a privilege staying there, the decor was so in keeping with the character of the property, plus the garden and surrounding scenery was superb. Our only suggestion would be a more updated kitchen as this seemed a little tired. Everything was as described and more. We only discovered on the last day where the garden furniture cushions are kept and that we could have turned on the central heating, but that was our fault for not reading the introduction manual to the cottage in more detail! Few minor niggles (1) on arrival no welcome pack, which was disappointing considering the price (2) upon arrival few crumbs on the kitchen floor and on surfaces, plus few stains inside kitchen cupboards, and coffee grounds at the bottom of the caddy from the previous visitor, (3) and most disappointing was the separate electric shower as the water flow is poor and the water temperature was dangerously hot (in fact scalding) at times when the temperature surged, despite trying to keep the temperature consistent, this meant that for the majority of the shower it was tepid or cold as frightened of being burnt, we gave it up as a bad job, we took baths instead using the over bath shower. These minor points wouldn’t prevent us from booking to stay again. Thank you again for such a wonderful cottage, we have some great memories of our stay and we look forward to staying again at some point in the future.

Beautiful traditional cottage, modernized enough but still retaining original features which we loved. Very homely. Garden and seating areas outside were perfect when we had the sunshine. Would definitely recommend.
