Snaptrip says

Woodland Retreat in Windermere offers a tranquil setting with wildlife sightings and a hot tub as highlights. The lodge's interior cleanliness and modern appliances are praised, though some outdoor maintenance issues are noted. The location is ideal for exploring the Lake District, with local amenities and attractions nearby.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The interior of the lodge is generally found to be clean and tidy, with modern appliances appreciated. However, several reviews mention issues with outdoor cleanliness and occasional lapses in indoor cleaning standards, such as dust and leftover food.

The lodge's location is highly regarded, with its proximity to Windermere and local shops, as well as the scenic and tranquil setting within the forest. Accessibility by car and public transport is good, enhancing its appeal.

Guests find the beds comfortable, with the exception of the adult bunk beds, which are deemed too small for taller individuals. Seating areas are generally liked, though some find the furniture less comfortable. Noise from the hot tub and boiler affected the comfort level for some guests.

Facilities like the hot tub are well-received, but several guests report maintenance issues such as a loose handrail and problems with hot water. The lack of instruction manuals for modern equipment and the need for better-equipped kitchens are also mentioned.

There is insufficient information regarding any thoughtful touches or gifts provided by the hosts, as no reviews mention such details. Therefore, a score cannot be given for this category.

It was dirty, it was clear the sheets in the bunk room weren't changed there was visible mud in the beds. The whole place absolutely stinks of dog. The smell was overwhelming. The crockery was shoved in the dishwasher and we had to re-clean a lot of it. There was left over food in the fridge. Part of the hot tub was broken however this didn't hamper use. The absolutely worst part was the boiler wasn't working when we arrived and the out of hours support number doesn't work. We did manage to get an engineer out the following day when we could get the in our line to answer, the customer service here was good. However it wasn't fixed, it broke again during our stay. All they did was turn it on and off. It's clear this needs to be replaced ASAP. The site was nice and overall we had a nice holiday but the accommodation put a massive damper on it and I would not recommend booking this particular lodge.

For anyone who’s reading the reviews regarding the decking, I can confirm this has now been fixed and created a lovely setting. The noise to the hot tub did not bother us one bit. The lodge was very clean upon arrival. The location of the lodge is fantastic, out the way but in walking distance to the main facilities. If I had to pick anything out it would be the workmanship to whoever applied the aqua panels in the toilets but this is from someone who is a bathroom fitter so I see these small things

It did smell a little of dogs when we first entered; maybe because people staying before had dog(s) with them. We got used to it though! Bedding and the place generally was really clean. Would suggest maybe skimming bedroom doors slightly to main bedrooms - seems new carpets have been put in 2 double bedrooms and it was quite hard to open/close the doors. Only minor points though - otherwise, great stay; great location and would recommend.
