1 Aleutia Gardens is a spacious cottage in Thetford, Norfolk, appreciated for its quiet location amidst nature, large open-plan spaces, and indoor garden. Guests enjoyed the wildlife sightings and the property's suitability for family gatherings. The hot tub was a highlight, although some concerns were raised about privacy.
Several reviews mention issues with cleanliness, including dust, grime, and unpleasant smells. There are reports of unclean windows, leftover food, and personal items from previous guests. These recurring comments suggest that cleanliness needs significant improvement.
The property is praised for its quiet and nature-rich setting, with frequent wildlife sightings. Its proximity to local attractions like Banham Zoo and Great Yarmouth is appreciated, although some guests noted traffic noise.
Guests found the beds comfortable and the rooms large, ideal for families. The spacious layout was conducive to relaxation, but some concerns about outdated furniture and a lack of basic amenities were noted.
The property boasts a well-received hot tub and indoor garden. However, issues with maintenance, such as leaking showers and a non-working hot tub on arrival, have been reported. The lack of cleaning supplies and basic amenities like an iron also affected the score.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches provided by the host in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess the thoughtfulness of the host in this regard. Therefore, this score is set to null.

Thetford, a sizable, ancient market town in Norfolk on the border with Suffolk, has a rich history that can be explored on foot via the many interesting trails and museums it hosts. The town of Thetford and the surrounding villages are more widely recognised by their fictional TV name, Walmington-on-Sea, from the 1980s television series Dad's Army. Thetford Forest, Britain's largest lowland pine forest, is just outside of town and home to a nature reserve and the Peddars Way National Trail. Excellent trails for all abilities can be found at High Lodge Forest Centre, making it a great destination for families, walkers, and cyclists. The kids will especially love the Squirrel Maze. If you're feeling adventurous, you can try out Go Trax or the Go Ape high ropes course, or you can simply unwind in the café and gift shop. Lynford Arboretum and Lakes is a fantastic destination throughout the year. The Grimes Grave Flint Mines and the Iceni settlement of Cockley Cley are located further afield.

We paid a lot of money to stay there with my 94 year old mum and was worried about her catching something ALso there was a pair of pants left on the toilet back piece which should have been removed. All windows has dead insects on and cobwebs Was a nightmare to just generally get the tv working my mum couldnât watch her caranation street . And her other soaps . Not that I watch it but she do . I have taken pictures of this so itâs all true and spoken to sykescottages Jane ckarke 07576200580

1. The kitchen and bathroom drains had a very strong unpleasant smell, we had to leave the window wide open in the bathroom as the smell was so bad 2. The BBQ was unusable as it was filthy dirty and covered in cobwebs and no gas available 3. The so called Kingsize bed as described in the listing was only a standard double 4. There was no welcome pack not even some milk and no starter pack of firewood for the wood burner as listed 5. The shower cubicle leaked and left a puddle 6. Some of the dining chairs had loose spindles and one fell out completely 7. There were no cleaning products available for the toilets or kitchen surfaces On a more positive note we managed to see a family of deer, squirrels and a pair of Jays in the surrounding garden which was wonderful. This could be such a wonderful holiday property if more time and investment was spent on cleanliness and maintenance
