Located a mile from the nearest road in ancient woodland in Thetford, Norfolk, The Hartley Hut, is a romantic shepherd’s hut that exudes tranquillity, yet offers a host of luxuries including outdoor bathing, a bookable wood fired hot tub, a well-equipped kitchen and treatments from an on-site spa. Surrounded by forests and a nature reserve, Alpaca walks, karting, Banham Zoo, paintballing and picturesque walks, are just some of the thrilling activities nearby.

Step up to the verandah and you will find the luxurious, double ended bath where you can lie back, relax and enjoy the stars with your favourite bubbles whilst watching the wildlife around you. Dry off in front of the gas fire pit, and have fun cooking in the well-appointed outdoor kitchen. Finish off the evening with a Twilight Hamper full of tempting delights such as marshmallows, popcorn, chocolate sauce and hot chocolate, which can be ordered from the owners on arrival. As standard, you will be greeted by complimentary starter welcome pack along with toiletries.

Inside the hut is a fabulous wood burning stove and a very comfortable king-size bed with soft cushions and throws all decorated in calming hues of duck egg blue. With a built-in boom box and a 20 inch television to entertain you, you will feel relaxed and cosy whatever time of year you choose to stay.

With the adjacent land owned by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust, there is plenty of opportunity birds and wildlife that you may never have seen so close before - don’t forget your binoculars! Set within 32 acres, this stunning glamping site literally brims with wildlife. The Hartley Hut is located just outside the village of Thompson, deep in Thetford Forest, on the outskirts of the forest canopy of beech and elm.

The Hartley Hut has its own bookable private wood fired hot tub (subject to an additional charge) and there is complementary access to the natural swimming pool located within the Wilderness Spa; a bespoke outdoor spa experience to relax and unwind under the beautiful mature trees in King Edward viii Wood. Further information is listed below. Within walking distance there is a good pub, The Chequers Inn, where you can enjoy local ales and good food.

There are two similarly appointed huts nearby with ample space and privacy. For larger groups, there are other hideaways available to book on site: Thompson Hall Retreats.

A hot tub is available to add for additional charge of £25 per night. If added, please add for the same number of nights as the stay.

Children over the age of 16 are welcome at the main retreat but cannot use the Wilderness Spa.

Early check-in available at 1:30pm for an additional fee of £20 - please contact the owner upon booking.

A £100 security deposit will be applied a few days before your holiday, which is released upon your departure.
