Guests consistently praise 'The Gypsy Knot' for its charm, cosiness, and privacy, with a special mention of the warm welcome from the host, Christine. The property's secluded garden and historical intrigue add to its allure, while its proximity to the town and harbour is appreciated. The thoughtful touches, including a welcome hamper, enhance the experience, making it a highly recommended and magical retreat.
There is no specific mention of cleanliness in the reviews, so it is not possible to provide an accurate score for this category.
The location is frequently highlighted as central and convenient, within walking distance to the town and harbour, contributing to a positive experience.
Comfort is well-regarded with mentions of a cosy atmosphere and a comfortable bed, although one review notes that taller individuals may find sleeping slightly uncomfortable.
While guests mention facilities such as a private garden and a welcome hamper, there is insufficient detail to accurately score the overall facilities and maintenance.
The host's thoughtfulness is evident through the provision of welcome hampers and the sharing of the property's history, although it should be noted that such personal touches may vary and are not guaranteed.
The Gypsy Knot is a beautifully quirky gypsy wagon hidden in the walled garden of an historic house, in the centre of the popular seaside town of Wells in Norfolk. A truly special hideaway find, you'll just love the hospitality and location.
Set in its own private walled garden, this magical gypsy wagon is filled with everything you need for a relaxing stay. It is full of quirks and wonderful features with its sliding double bed, fold-down kitchen area and pretty stove to keep you cosy on chillier evenings. There will be a welcome hamper with basics and some treats (of course!) on arrival. This should keep you going, but if you do want to cook, there is a lovely old fireplace which acts as a firepit/stove and barbecue, or there is a microwave inside the hut. If you would rather head out and try some of the local gastro pubs, you are certainly not short of choice! There are three pubs all within two minutes' walk around the beautiful Georgian village green 'The Buttlands'.
The wagon is in the grounds of Ware Hall, and the amazing history behind the house itself is almost as quirky as the wagon! The story of May Savidge is known by many, after being forced to demolish her much loved family home in Hertfordshire, she took it down, timber by timber, and brought the whole house to Wells-next-the-Sea where she single-handedly rebuilt the medieval Hall.

It was a lovely unusual place to have a great break away from the business of life where we could relax and just have some time for the two of us. Totally recommend it

It was a magical experience. Lovely reception from the owner with everything provided we even had a welcome basket. A private garden which was very secluded for our own personal use. Highly recommended we would definitely stay again. Thank you
