This delightful cottage is nestled in a quiet corner of the village and offers a perfect blend of tranquillity and charm, with a range of picturesque walking and cycling trails from the doorstep. There is a village shop, pub, and restaurants less than a mile away and as Shotley Bridge rests close to the River Derwent, you can enjoy lovely, peaceful river walks and explore wonderful countryside from the doorstep. Visit Allensford Country Park for walking and cycling trails and spend a day at the fantastic Beamish Museum (10.5 miles) for an unforgettable journey into the past. Head to Stanhope in the nearby Durham Dales (13.5 miles), a superb place for outdoor activities, and spend a day in Durham (15 miles) for the magnificent cathedral, river walks, shops, bars, and restaurants. Newcastle and the Metrocentre are both also within 15 miles.

This inviting former stable has been beautifully transformed into a tranquil haven for couples looking for quality and comfort. Step through the stable-style front door into the bright, airy, open-plan living space with high ceilings and original exposed beams. There are two comfortable sofas to relax on after your days out walking, cycling, and exploring this wonderful area; and there is a TV with the full Sky package providing entertainment for cosy nights in. The kitchen area is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare a range of meals during your stay. When you want to eat in, you can all sit at the dining table and enjoy sociable mealtimes. When you are ready for a good night’s sleep, just head up the five stairs to find the two delightful bedrooms, each with storage space for your things. There is a generous king-size and a lovely double bedroom. The contemporary shower room completes the accommodation with a shower cubicle and WC.

Outside to the front, there is bench seating where you can sit with your morning coffee, put on your walking boots, and listen to the birds. There’s also a lovely lawned garden (not enclosed) with outdoor dining furniture and a charcoal BBQ, perfect for al fresco dining in the warmer months. There are dark skies to enjoy, and you may well see the local deer and neighbouring hens visiting the garden.

    This is a lovely property, it was everything we wanted and needed. Everything is very well done just the right mix of sharp crispness and comfort. We had lovely weather while we were there, but this cottage will be very cosy when needed. Everything is very well thought out, to make your stay very comfortable.
