Guests say

The Smithy is a well-received holiday cottage, praised for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and modern amenities. Guests appreciate the quiet, rural setting and the property's proximity to local attractions. The well-equipped kitchen, comfortable furnishings, and thoughtful touches like books and games contribute to a cosy and enjoyable stay. While some minor issues were reported, they were promptly addressed, and the overall experience is highly regarded by visitors.

Guests consistently note the property's cleanliness, describing it as 'spotlessly clean' and 'very well maintained'. The high level of cleanliness contributes significantly to the positive experience of the guests.

The property's location is appreciated for its beautiful rural setting and tranquillity. It is described as quiet and peaceful, though some guests note it is a bit remote, requiring a car to access local amenities and attractions.

The Smithy is frequently described as cosy and comfortable, with plenty of space for families and groups. The furnishings and beds are comfortable, and the property is equipped to cater to both communal and individual needs.

Facilities are generally praised, especially the well-equipped kitchen and the inclusion of a log burner. However, some guests mentioned the lack of a microwave and outdoor furniture, and one incident with a jammed door, which suggests room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

While guests mention thoughtful touches like books, games, and a welcome pack, there is no consistent mention of gifts across the reviews. Therefore, it is not possible to accurately score thoughtfulness based on the presence of gifts, and guests should not expect them as a guarantee.

Perfect base for exploring Newcastle, Blyth and Bamburgh. Thanks

Decorated very tastefully and has everything you need. Lovely rural location and plenty of parking for group bookings. The only things I found slightly disappointing was there was little hot water to say the size of the house so it wasn’t possible for the whole group to have a shower in a morning. Also check out time was very early which ruined our last day. Would be ok I you’d been there a longer period of time but as we only stayed a weekend it seemed very rushed getting all cleaned, tidy, cold showered and out by 9.30. Would be nice for an option of a later checkout.

We really enjoyed our stay there and wouldn’t hesitate to return. A few minor changes would make it even better An earlier check in and later checkout would be good. Cushions for the outside furniture would be nice. The sofa bed doesn’t work well Our party consisted of 9 people so there wasn’t really enough comfortable seating in the lounge for all of us More info on the location- places to visit, pubs , restaurants, location of shops, doctors, dentists etc would be good A visitors book would be useful
