Longshore in Alnmouth is a well-regarded holiday cottage, praised for its spaciousness, cleanliness, and prime location close to the beach. Guests have enjoyed the comfortable furnishings, the warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the property's suitability for large groups. While some maintenance issues and kitchen equipment shortages were noted, the overall experience has been positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
The property generally receives positive remarks for cleanliness, with guests noting it as clean and well-presented upon arrival. However, there are instances of oversight, such as dust, dirty skirting boards, and baby handprints on windows, which slightly detract from the overall impression.
The location is highly praised, being close to the beach and local amenities in the heart of Alnmouth. Guests appreciate the peaceful street and the convenience for exploring Northumberland, making it an ideal base for a holiday.
Guests find the property comfortable, with special mentions of quality bedding, a cosy lounge, and a private courtyard. The spaciousness contributes to the comfort level, although some guests noted the beds could be larger and additional seating might enhance the experience.
Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and modern bathrooms. However, guests have reported maintenance issues such as problems with blinds, showers, and heating. Some guests also suggested the kitchen could be better stocked with utensils and crockery.
There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as there are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate the level of consideration for guests' needs. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.
Resting in the heart of delightful Alnmouth in Northumberland, Longshore is a spectacular, three storey Victorian property which offers spacious and tasteful accommodation, perfect for holidays for families and friends alike. Having carefully retained its character, the property has been meticulously renovated to offer all the mod cons you would expect from a high end holiday home. The sitting room is no exception with solid wood flooring and an ornamental open fireplace creating a traditional vibe while comfy seating and chic soft furnishings add a stylish finishing touch to the space. The impressive, extended kitchen/diner is sleek and contemporary and yet is still warm and welcoming with a fully fitted kitchen offering everything needed to produce great food for the whole holiday party and with a rustic dining table and chairs adjoining the space, guests can take a seat, pour themselves a glass of their favourite tipple and keep the chef company. When the food is ready to serve up, there is the formal dining room all ready to greet guests with a warming woodburning stove helping to make a great focal point to the room and is somewhere you can imagine spending many happy hours putting the world to rights, drinking, dining and enjoying each other’s company. If the weather allows, then there is a small but perfectly formed sunny courtyard garden where you can carry on the party outside. At bedtime, there are five wonderfully appointed bedrooms to choose from; two super-king-sizes, two king-sizes and a single. All are equally well presented and offer a restful place to lay your weary heads so that in the morning you’ll be refreshed and raring to go, ready to explore the delights of Alnmouth which is within a short walk where you will find a good selection of shops and eateries as well as a golf course and miles of sandy beaches. Take a short drive to Alnwick, famous for its castle and gardens, or drive a little further to attractions such as Hadrian’s Wall, Howick Hall and Gardens, Dunstanburgh Castle and Northumberland Country Zoo. Take a boat trip over to the Farne Islands where you might catch sight of an unusual bird or seal. If you love wildlife, then you’ve come to the right place with RSPB reserves at Annstead Dunes and Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre. Activities worth having a go at while you’re here include golf at Alnmouth Golf Club, horse-riding at Slate Hall Riding Centre, surfing at Bamburgh Castle Beach and sailing at Beadnell Sailing Club. For an outstanding property in a superb location, Longshore ticks all the boxes and promises the very best of holidays.
Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea. A short drive will bring you to Alnwick with its famous historic castle, The Alnwick Garden housing the Poison Garden which runs guided tours through dangerous botanicals and a variety of pubs and restaurants. We asked for 2 permits. When the first car load arrived at the house Friday evening they found one in-date permit. They phoned the emergency number to ask for a second permit and after a 15 minute wait for the call to be answered were told they needed the reference number for the property before anything could be done and the office closed at 7pm. This was about 6.30 and the our car was still en route with said reference number tucked somewhere in the luggage. We arrived just before 7pm and tried to phone but the office was now closed. Saturday morning we rang again and a helpful lady said she would contact the owner and get back to us, which she did. The owner had told her the permit was in a drawer in the hall unit. There was no such unit in the hall but we searched through the unit in the lounge where the first permit was found; there was no second permit (only old out-of-date permits and letters chasing up Council Tax payments). We rang again an spoke to the same lady who said she would contact the owner again and get back to us. She never did. We tried another call on Monday morning but couldn't get through so made the decision to drive the car to the beach car park and pay to park for the day (£3.50), rather than risk the constant niggle of receiving a fine. Our complaint is about the lack of concern on behalf of your agent and the owner. Even if the issue was not solvable at short notice a phone call back and apology would have been nice. It felt that the agent chose to believe the owner rather than us and it was left to us to find a solution. We loved the location of the house - A friendly welcoming village too. Gadgets were all in working order. Nice modern bathrooms and everything spotlessly clean. A few items needed topping up: more lightwieght mugs/teaspoons; the small bedroom lacked a table light and socket; sink plug missing in one of the bathrooms; a slip mat would be good in the walk-in shower; a bit more information about local services in the info folder, particularly bus services. The 2'6" beds were a little small for adults, were they intended for children? Hope these suggestions are helpful.

The house is well equipped and comfortable. It's a short walk to the beautiful beach and Alnmouth is a lovely village.
