White Feathers is a well-regarded cottage praised for its thoughtful design, comfortable beds, and excellent location near Alnwick town centre. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen and homely touches, though some noted the water pressure and mattress comfort could be improved. The property is clean, cosy, and generally exceeds expectations.
Guests consistently describe the cottage as clean and tidy, indicating high standards of cleanliness.
The property's proximity to the town centre, shops, restaurants, and bars is frequently highlighted, suggesting an excellent location.
While beds are described as comfortable and the property as homely, there are remarks about an uncomfortable mattress in the master bedroom, leading to a slightly lower score.
The property is well-equipped, but comments about water pressure issues and the absence of scissors suggest room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.
Guests are pleased with the provision of useful items and welcome gifts, although it should be noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and not guaranteed.
Set in the historic, market town of Alnwick, Northumberland is White Feathers, a delightful, two-bedroom cottage. Just a stone's throw away from the town's amenities and attractions, including the impressive Alnwick Castle, White Feathers offers a homely base for three guests with their furry companions in tow. Formerly part of Alnwick Castle as a grain store or oat house, this terrace holiday home has a rich history in a now-bustling town; going back to the 1950s and 1960s, White Feathers even operated as a shop serving the local community. Unload your belongings and head indoors to make yourself at home. Be greeted by a lovely living/dining room where you can unwind after a day of adventure with the woodburning stove rustling in the backdrop. The kitchen is well-equipped for a self-catered stay, where you can prepare delicious meals, ready to be enjoyed around the dining table. Once the sun sets, catch some rest from either the king-size or single beds, awakening to a refreshing shower in the bathroom. On your doorstep, be spoilt for choice when stocking up on the essentials and dining out, with The Market Tavern Steakhouse and Lodge, Alnwick Market open every Thursday and Saturday, and a plethora of cafes and pubs to select from. For attractions, be sure to tour both the castle and Bailiffgate Museum, finishing off with a stroll alongside River Aln or around The Alnwick Garden, ending your day with a tipple at The John Bull Inn pub. Heading towards the coast, both Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum and Dunstanburgh Castle are ready to be toured, ideal for history buffs, or head north to explore Bamburgh, its seafront castle and the stunning Northumberland Coast AONB. With the Northumberland National Park within reach, there's plenty to see and do in the area, all starting from White Feathers.
The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.

Ideally located within easy reach of the town centre, shops restaurants and bars. Only thing I can think of that would improve the property is the shower, pressure not great hot and cold and had to dance around to get wet

Very nice clean & comfy cottage with easy access to Alnwick & lots of the surrounding areas. Well equipped to make a meal at home & some good takeaways just a short walk away. The only thing my husband & I found we didnât get along with was the master bedroom bed being quite uncomfortable - mattress hard & lumpy, pillows very firm - I appreciate this is a very individual opinion so difficult to please everyone. Lovely touchâs with the welcome gifts & supply of hand & washing up soap/liquid.
