No9 Budle Sands is a well-received cottage in Northumberland, praised for its cleanliness, cosy comfort, and excellent location near Budle Bay and Bamburgh. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds, and the property's suitability for dogs. While some minor maintenance issues and cleanliness in specific areas were noted, the overall sentiment is positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
The majority of guests found the cottage to be clean and welcoming. However, a few reviews mentioned specific issues such as cobwebs, a stale odour upon arrival, and a dirty rug, which slightly lowers the score.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to beautiful beaches, quiet surroundings, and easy access to local attractions. It is considered an excellent base for exploring Northumberland.
Guests frequently mention the comfortable beds and cosy atmosphere of the cottage. Some noted the lounge seating and dining area were a bit tight for four adults with dogs, but overall the comfort level is rated highly.
The cottage is generally well-equipped, especially the kitchen. However, there are comments about the need for maintenance in areas like the en suite bathroom, and some kitchen items needing replacement. The lack of an enclosed garden for dogs was also noted.
While the reviews reflect a positive experience, there is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate a level of thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.
Bamburgh 1.6 miles. Literally just a stone’s throw from stunning Budle Bay in Northumberland, No9 Budle Sands is an impressive barn conversion which has been tastefully converted to produce beautifully presented accommodation, ideal for a family or two couples travelling together. Budle Bay is a simply captivating location with mud flats attracting migrating birds and miles of sandy beaches. Bamburgh is just a few miles away and as well as its famous castle, also has a good selection of shops and amenities. Other towns worth visiting in the region include Alnwick, Seahouses (just a few miles away) and you can even head to the border and visit the ever-popular town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Activities to look forward to in the area include golf, sailing (from Seahouses to the Farne Islands), hiking, cycle rides and horse-riding. Offering elegant accommodation close to the beach, No9 Budle Sands is the perfect holiday destination.
The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

No issues during the stay and would definitely stay at the cottage again.

Needed the double bed made up as singles but despite contacting Sykes it was impossible to get this message through to the owners. Also the work going on in the property next door detracted from a peaceful holiday
Derek
Would recommend for a great self catering holiday.
