The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

Generally well-equipped with sufficient crockery & cutlery for four person stay with odd gaps - no bread knife or bread board. Only five table knives against many spoons & forks. Two tea towels & a pair of oven gloves but no kitchen towel. Handle to utility cupboard is loose (we kept it ajar in case came off completely). Hardest thing was fathoming getting keys & getting into property, especially with such very strong springs on all doors-could maybe warn people of that. (Took me ages to get through pedestrian gate. The key pad says enter flat number. If you indicated that the first zero of the key code we were given is to switch the screen to accept the rest of the entry code which is displayed but must then press hard to find âenterâ button & immediately push the edge of the gate with force otherwise you are too late & have to start again!! Could also say location of relevant parking space ( very hard to see numbers at back of garage area). Getting out also a little tricky on last day as one person has to open outer gate for driver to pull forward then sprint to box to lock up key & fob then back to car. (Otherwise driver goes through gate and sit & wait whilst you use pedestrian gate - not a major problem but maybe hard if not steady on feet!!). However all that is worth it for a beautiful place to stay & would certainly recommend (in fact our daughter recommended it to us but clearly either had no problem doors/keys or had forgotten!!)

Easy walking distance of sea and local pubs and restaurants.

After ringing and said this would be done it was very disappointing to find that this had not be done. I did think after it would be done as it said to ring and ask if you wanted this. This was poor service.
