Guests say

Bramwell House is a beautifully presented cottage in the charming village of Corbridge, praised for its superb location and high standard of renovation. Guests have enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, local amenities, and the property's modern, clean design. While some minor maintenance issues and a lack of certain facilities have been noted, the overall experience remains highly recommended by visitors.

The property generally receives positive remarks on cleanliness, with guests finding it well-presented. However, there were isolated comments about a blocked drain and dirty serviettes, suggesting room for improvement.

The location is consistently praised for being central, peaceful, and a great base for exploring Northumberland, with easy access to local shops, pubs, and transport links.

Guests find the property very comfortable and stylish, with a well-appointed interior. Some discomfort was noted due to bright light in bedrooms at dawn and issues with door locks.

While the property is admired for its amenities, several guests mentioned the lack of a washing machine, ironing equipment, and clear instructions for appliances. There were also comments about non-functioning showers and heating issues.

There are mixed comments regarding the provision of welcome gifts such as tea, coffee, and logs for the fire. As these are not consistently mentioned across reviews, it is not possible to accurately score thoughtfulness based on the available information.

About this property

Nestled in the Northumbrian countryside in the village of Corbridge, is this well-presented cottage, Bramwell House. Enjoying original features, with exposed stone walls, beamed ceilings and a woodburning stove, this holiday home is idyllic for two couples, friends or a family of four. Leave your vehicle in a roadside space before stepping inside to discover the shaker-style kitchen/diner, with an oven and hob to prepare delicious meals. After an action-packed day and when stomachs begin to rumble, settle down at the dining table. When the sun is shining, head out onto the small patio area and why not uncork a bottle of wine to savour a glass? As the evening cools, retire into the sitting room, where you can sprawl on the sofa as the woodburning stove crackles before you and relish a hot chocolate. As eyes grow heavy, climb up the wooden staircase to reveal two bedrooms, both doubles and one offering an en-suite shower room for a rinse. Awaken with the sun shining through the Velux windows and take advantage of the kitchen facilities to rustle up a home-cooked breakfast. Explore your surroundings with a visit inside an old inn to sample local ales and browse antique stores for a unique gift to take home. Immerse yourself in the past with a trip to Corbridge Roman Town for the remains of Hardian's Wall and the grand Aydon Castle, or for a tranquil setting explore botanical gardens at Dilston Physic Garden. Head into the market town of Hexham; here you can enjoy a family day out at the races, tee up at the expansive golf course or stroll around The Sele. The city of Newcastle is also within easy reach, home to a vibrant nightlife for a bar crawl, Laing Art Gallery to see unique oil paintings and the Life Science Centre. All this and more awaits at Bramwell House.

Corbridge, a wonderful ancient community surrounded by magnificent unspoilt Northumbrian countryside, provides a wealth of attractions, including specialised stores, old inns, and a 12th century river bridge. Hadrian's Wall and Housesteads Fort are nearby, while Hexham, a market town with small, bustling streets, a decent selection of shops, and a fascinating abbey with 15th century frescoes and a superb Saxon crypt, is a few miles away and well worth a visit. Border Country, the Northumbrian coast, Kielder Forest (with cycling and watersports), Beamish Open Air Museum, and Durham Cathedral are all within easy driving distance, while the Gateshead Metro Centre (one of Europe's largest shopping malls) is 20 miles east. We soon settled in and felt at home. All amenities you need is within a few hundred metres, whilst your only 5 minutes drive from the countryside.

Very well placed for shops and public transport. Excellent public transport links to Hexham and beyond, including hadrians wall and associated sights. Although positioned between a cafe and pub there was no noise or other disturbance at all. We would certainly stay in this property again.

This is our second stay at this cottage this time was a little disappointing as there were a lot of light bulbs needed replacing plus the blinds at the back door and living room were not working so wasn't very private at night we were over looked there differently need a washing machine aswell if your staying 1week are more apparent from that the cottage is beautiful will definitely return in the near future
